So glad to hear that Giles I’ve really enjoyed my mornings in the slub & wabby combo. Now that I feel that I’ve gone through my local trials pretty well. It’s time to adventure out a bit more. Looking forward to heading to some new spots on days where I have a bit longer to hike.

Have you always hiked this much or is this a new routine to put some wear on the slub?

Hey Paul9221 I’ve been a once a week hiker more or less for the past few years. I took on the challenge for slubs along with losing my COVID weight. Now that I’m fully vaccinated I feel a lot better about going outside and adventuring. It was a long year of the unknown which led to much stress, eating, and drinking. I committed to 100 hikes this summer/fall to get back into shape, beat up the slubs, and a nice way to kick the COVID blues.

I’m really surprised with how dream like these photos can be. Honestly, I’m not doing too much other than I think going at the right time. I try to get on the trail early because it’ll get way to hot out. As I’ve gotten to know my older body a little better, I tend to swell up on long hikes in the heat. So I’m sticking to medium length hikes in morning. Hope to show some more of what western PA has to offer. I’m heading out to Yellow Creek State Park tomorrow morning. I used to fish there all the time as a kid, but I never really did hike it. So it’ll be a fun way to experience some place I’ve known for a long time.

@Fadez I relate so much with what you just wrote.  I am an avid dieter and exercise nut, but I can't tell you how many times I've found myself eating cereal and watching cartoons at 3AM during this pandemic.  Before the pandemic, I would drink maybe once a month, now I'm finding myself drinking about 3 times a week.  Never heavy, never raging, you know, but a tall glass of wine or a short glass of whiskey.  It's a lot more frequent compared to what it was.

As for the hikes, it's hard to take bad pictures of a great subject 🙂  I'm a wannabe photographer and being stuck indoors for a pandemic means that I rarely take pictures anymore.  You're inspiring me to find good hiking spots, though.

You're going to lose a ton of weight with these hikes, and you're getting some fresh air and fading some great new jeans for the whole lot of us, and getting to see some great sites.  What a fantastic combo 🙂  I just don't know that your clothes are going to fit you very well if you keep this up 😃

Thanks again for sharing!

Oh yes. [emoji485] Malbec Wine was definitely the theme of the quarantine for me.

If the jeans are giving you some inspiration to find some fresh air and spark some creativity then they’re working their magic across the forum. As I told I friend this morning while texting a bit, I don’t think I would have woken up so early, drove to a park, or go on a long hike without the slubby denim giving me that motivation. So I will take your thanks, but definitely give Giles and Alex the credit for letting me run with this idea! I’m so thankful that I’ve got a little project to work on and enjoy this summer.

As for my wardrobe. This is for sure the last of the skinnies. I think I’m sizing up on all my next pairs of jeans. As much as the fades will be epic on this one, I definitely want a bit more range of motion to get a little crazier with the hikes and outdoor activities. And with losing all the not so wanted weight. That will make room for all the muscles in phase 2 of my master plan [emoji23] who knows where this will take me, but I’m fully committed to the 100 hikes. I can’t believe it’s already been 12 so far. I’m so glad to hear that you’re enjoying this journey!

Ugh, the Malbecs are sooo good! 😃

These are such great hiking spots!  How far are you driving on average to get to them?

I haven’t gone more than 30 minutes just yet. White’s Woods is a 5-10, Blue Spruce is 15, and Yellow Creek is about 30. Not bad for travel time. I’m very happy I don’t have to drive far, that would definitely spoil some of it for me. Along the way I do want to go to some destination hikes for fun. But I’m content with staying local for the ease of working this in with my job and family

@Fadez  In your last 2 post there are some more invasive plants.
First is Multiforaflower rose in pic no. 5 in first post. It is very aggressive and takes over the forest floor. Second one is Oriental Bittersweet in pic no. 3 on second hike. It is the gray color vine that grows all over the trees covering them in vines. It is also very aggressive invasive plant. They both should be removed from the park.
