      @Richard:

I've decided to keep it, and use it as a jacket over a thin flannel. It's sooooo nice. Such colours popping.

Judging by these pictures that is an excellent decision. These really are very flexible pieces of clothing, they work great over sweatshirts, hoodies and vests too.

Yes, looks great, and you wouldn't want an additional inch in those shoulders. It'll relax further, and you could get a thin wool thermal under there and you're good to go whatever the weather. Most importantly, looks sharp!

That's going to be great for years @Richard. That smidge too big is much better than a bit small restricting layering ability. I want one badly. I asked the wife, and i believe i was completely ignored.

Enjoy it before it gets too hot.

I am not a huge fan of overdyed stuff. But these shirts look great. Also I love the tarnish on the snaps.

              …

Dude, I'm at a loss for words!  I have to know...did OD hurt you in the past?  😃

Do you plan on picking up the non-OD one?  CPOs are my favorite!

                  I have OD'ed a couple of times.  😛

I just think indigo evo is beautiful. So the OD puts the kybosh on that. Also I wore exclusively black clothes for like half of my life. So wearing blue stuff now is a nice change of pace. I think the XHS ib was a great compromise. Starts off black, then blue AF.

I hear ya. It does start out pretty dark.  I too tend to lean towards earthy colors like browns, greens, and blues, but I always make an exception for OD because it's blue at its core 🙂

I like the indigo evolution better too, but I don't always like the double indigo look. Overdye is a lot easier to wear with indigo jeans, since it's more contrasty. I also have the ihsh33ind now, so this is less overlapping.

Been wearing the OD a bunch this past weekend and it's starting to soften a lot, especially in the elbows. It's a lot more comfortable today than it was last week. My only complaint is I wish it had a locker loop of some sort, so I could hang it on a hook easily, especially at the office. I'm thinking I might sew one in later.

Got mine last night and it's plenty "Iron". Glad to hear this fabric breaks in so nicely.

My only complaint is the sleeve-to-chest ratio. I'm 6'1 with broad shoulders, and with hands at my sides, the sleeves on the XXL come to within 1/2" of my knuckles. Hoping that some good elbow combs will effectively shorten the sleeves.

This is the main reason I started buying IH shirts… I love it ! You can always roll the sleeves up...I'm pretty sure the sleeves are cut long so they aren't short while riding a bike. Either way I hope they are kept long.

Shirt looks great on you btw !

The effect will be emphasised in this case as this is CPO and made to be worn as an overshirt/jacket, not a straight shirt. Wearing it over layers shortens the arms.

That bugs a lot of people, also on the type III’s. Haraki-san tends not to put loops for hanging in a lot of jackets, so it is never going to happen in a shirt. He generally doesn’t like them.

His reasoning is that to be effective and bear the weight of the clothing, you’ll end up with a lot of visible bar tacks or other constructional stitching on the back of the shirt.

I missed them at the start, but I’ve learnt to live with it.

Right, the overshirt role is what I originally envisioned for this shirt, but again, the chest measurement makes it more difficult to use in that way. The sleeves are also quite narrow through the bicep for an overshirt… I realize OD'ing makes measurements/ratios incredibly difficult.

The use case as a motorcycle-focused garment definitely makes more sense. I probably will keep the cuffs flipped up most of the time.

Also a design feature to benefit riders. You don’t want wind billowing up the inside of your sleeves.

I have the IHSH-178 (previous iteration), the chest dims are the same as an XL shirt, but the shoulder and waist are wider and the arms are longer. I’m a t-rex and flip most cuffs anyway.

@Mike_Lima_Papa It looks great through the chest and amazing overall. I have a shirt that is a little long in the sleeves and the best solution I've found is to basically fold the cuff in half when it's fully buttoned instead of a full cuff unbuttoned. It tightens the cuff so it will sit neatly at the base of the hand and not have the floppy upturned cuff to deal with all the time.

this is how mine looks upturned (Nine Lives 19 oz chino fabric). It may not work with the larger buttons but worth a shot.

also, check out that triple stitching…

@jordanscollected Great suggestion! It's not perfect, because of the double snaps on the cuff, but still an improvement on the fully-flipped cuff. The full-cuff flip is fine for now while the fabric is at its most rigid, but as it softens it won't hold as well.
