The Sandias are our local mountain range.  About 10,000’.  Visible from anywhere in the area.  The Sandia  Peak Tramway carries visitors to the peak where you’ll find some trails, a fine dining restaurant and ski slopes down the backside…

This is everything for me. Thank you @Matt and fam. I’ve been staring at those mountains for more than a decade and have never done this…

There’s a hike up there called the TWA hike.  7 miles leading to a 1955 plane crash.  You can see some of the debris from the tram.  Nothing an iPhone would have noticed.  I’ll definitely be back for that.

Any idea about the reason for the name, Sandia? In spanish it means watermelon…wondering if there is any link.

            The journey is the objective.

In certain times of day the sun plays off the minerals in the rocks making the mountain give off hues of red and green.  If I can get a decent sunset photo I’ll be sure to tag you.

New washer and dryer showed up yesterday.  Very excited to wash 3 deserts worth of dust out of my jeans.  I may run a test pair through the dryer to see if it helps with my new post-dad bod fit.  In 10 years I’ve never dried any of my IH gear so I’m waffling a bit.  Feel free to talk me down off of or push me over the ledge.

Just do it, Matt! I tumble dry all my denim. May cause a little shrinkage, but no detrimental effects. Spin cycle in the washer is what can be tricky. But with inside-out pre-submerged(wet) denim, even that is usually nbd.

My new washer has no agitator so I’m pumped.  Sadly we did not spring for the model that has a Premium Denim setting!?!?

We’ve been getting our new resident logistics together for the past week.  So far our kids are getting free breakfast and lunch at school and we’re on Medicaid because we haven’t worked for a year.  Excuse me while I put on my $400 pair of jeans so I can sit on my new couch and watch my robot vacuum clean while I watch my new QLED 4K tv.  😘

The Tin Palace and I will be leaving for her new home in Chicago tomorrow. Then it’s on to Maryland to see family and retrieve belongings.  I’ll try to post some over the next few days.  Mixed feelings.  Got my first shot today and my new drivers license so it’s all settling in.  I’ll miss this thread.  It’s been fun.

Am sure the aftermath of that would not be a pretty sight - thanks for saving us from that scene.

As an aside, I don’t recommend driving 2000 miles in 2 days.  I feel awful.  It was striking to see the transition from spring in the desert to spring in the East.  I haven’t seen green in a while.  The Tin Palace has been moved along to a new home and we’re grateful for our time with her.  She’ll be living on a farm with plenty of room to run and play.  Goodbye old friend.  Thanks for the memories.
