Short of there being a devastating new variant, I think that Government is going to rely heavily on the private sector policing the public. Government have 'planned' for a covid passport, but have no 'plans' to implement one. They will defer to private businesses to refuse entry to their establishments if you can't evidence you've been inoculated.

I'm hopeful that it will be a legal minefield and that a good human rights lawyer will challenge it. It makes my heart sink at how quickly people have thrown their basic rights away. It is Orwellian. Being forced to a) buy a smart phone, b) have a vaccine, c) agree that your personal details can be stored centrally by Government (this has been agreed) frightens the hell out of me. As someone who's daily bread and butter is working with the HRA and ECtHR, it appauls me. My grandad would have been appauled. I remember him telling me, when he was in his late 90s, that all but 1 of his pals died during the Dday landings, and they did it so we could be free.

Whereas, I don't give a crap about giving any of my basic rights.

And personally, I think that the link between our forebears fighting in the 1st and 2nd world wars and trying to sort out Covid is extremely tenuous.

My grandfather also fought in the 2nd world war, and I don't suppose he thought his basic human rights were being taken away from him when he was asked to go and put his life on the line for the country.

I think that the decision to have a Covid thread was never going to make for lighthearted banter.

What basic rights would you be happy to have revoked? That's your perogative as an individual, but we are talking about everyone in society.

In 2016 people were asked to make a serious decision when they weren't given the information necessary. Many of those now say 'well if I'd have known that then I wouldn't have…'. This will be the same. Government are planning to treat annual covid planning the same as they do influenza. Vaccinate the high risk groups to reduce deaths and reduce demand on the NHS. Why then revoke some of our basic human rights in law? It won't be relevant in a couple of years.

This is why the generalised public debate about covid restrictions and human rights frustrates me. People don't understand the relationship between WW2, the ECtHR, the HRA, the Public Health Act, and The Coronavirus Act.

They are intrinsically linked. I don't just spout my bullshit, irrelivent views about this. I am informed, and involved at a regional level. I attended an East of England meeting today on just this subject, feedback of which will inform national decision making. The equation isn't as simple as vaccine + covid = no more deaths.

I implore people to read beyond the headlines, go to the source material. Decision making on this type of issue has to be objective otherwise poor decisions are made.

                And...

My grandfather also fought in the 2nd world war, and I don't suppose he thought his basic human rights were being taken away from him when he was asked to go and put his life on the line for the country.

That was exactly what our grandparents were to that Hitler wanted to do. Take away our freedom. They weren't asked either, they were told... Another imminent similarity.

Good news… and good luck. We had our first jab this Saturday. It's been a hard weekend. I never had any problems with a vac and I had every vac one can imagine for my MSF time in Africa but this one really made me feel ill. I can highly recommend 500mg Paracetamol every 4 hours and two days in bed. Our employees, all in their twenties still are... the good news the elder the less problems you should have  😉

God has blessed you richly, so get down on your knees and thank him. Don’t forget the less fortunate or God will personally kick your ass. I’d love to do it for him, but I can’t be everywhere. Willie Nelson

I got my second jab 28 Feb. and didn't expect anything, but 12 hours later, I developed a high fever, severe arm pain, waking up every hour feeling like crap, next morning felt kind of OK, but slept most of the day. The highlight of the moment was my IHSH 277 IND was delivered, heard the doorbell ring, just layed in bed. When I came down to the door expecting a UPS slip on the door about a redelivery, the shirt was there. 36 hours later I'm fine.

I received my second Pfizer vaccine shot today. Drove an hour and a half in DC traffic and waited two hours and 45 minutes in line. I was hungover and forgot my water bottle. I was extremely thirsty (literally) but was happy I didn't have to use the bathroom.

My arm is a little bit more sore than my first dose. I don't feel unusual so far and it has been five hours since my injection. Oh jeepers I just scrolled down and read @ROman 's post. Which vaccine did you get?
