Another one from yesterday.  These Ponderosa pines are pretty special…

When @Alex  was about 8 or 9 I took him to Orlando to do the amusement parks.  The Ponderosa all-you-can-eat breakfast buffet was how we started each day. The next year we went with @Madame Buttonfly and Alex insisted on covering Paula's eyes until we were inside, so that she could get the full reveal….. I'm not saying anything negative about the clientele, but it was been known in our family ever since as Pond-life-erosa....I have to say, most of them were Brits....$3.99 will do it...

@Aetas unfortunately Yosemite will have to wait.  Our current plan is to move up through AZ to Utah where we’ll hit the National Park scene there pretty hard until June.  At that point we’ll make our way into Albuquerque where we’ll hold up at an RV park while we try to get a house and settle there.  Once we’re settled we’ll continue to travel for vacation and summer but the kids don’t have much more of this left in them.  The thread will go on hiatus but I’ll still post when we get to venture out to something worthwhile.  Once the nest is empty, Katie and I will hit the road again full time.

It’s a little sooner than we’d hoped but the Airstream’s value will go down after COVID and the kids are getting to a tween age where they make everything more difficult and less enjoyable. They really need school and friends.  And to be away from me each day.

Yet another reason why a house with rooms that have solid wood doors is attractive to me right now. I’m excited to start going to concerts again when they start up.  So I can continue to expedite my hearing loss.

I see your fists are clenched in that last photo.  😉  My hat is off to you and your wife @Matt . In your place I'd have made gruesome headlines by now.

It was a good time to be sure and there’s still plenty to see this spring.  As for the girls, they are good girls.  I guess it comes down to this… there’s dads like the ones on tv and then there’s my dad.  I’m definitely more like my dad.  There just so much crying and eye rolling with girls.  What the hell is that?

Matt, sounds like you need a day away - a daddy day? Is it possible to find some alone time for your sanity (and those of your family). I'm sure it's not as bad as I'm reading here, but seems like the confines are adding up a bit. You're a saint in my books, no way would I have made it past a week - literal trip of a lifetime and I know it's not all ups, but it's the journey not the end :).

I'd have willingly given Alex roughly what it would have cost to put him through university as down payment on some sort of trade/business.

Luckily he saw the light and flunked Uni early….
