ETA on a restock in L/XL for this shirt? Will probably treat myself over Xmas and have a few things in mind, this being top of the list. If restock not expected anytime soon I will move down to item two and pick this up at later date.

Also, the description says this shirt will fade slowly and develop profound character. It’d be great to see any examples of this “profound character” as I’m generally a sucker for anything that progresses slowly…

Oops, see there are 4 XL’s currently in stock. Hmm, do I go XL and hot wash or wait for an L that I will always have to treat carefully and cold wash…

I would say get the smallest XL and be able to wash/dry with impunity never having to worry about shrinkage.

I love it. And beside that. The compliment-factor with this shirt is quite high.

                                why so serious?

This Johnny Cash shirt or a black heavyweight kersey in black?  And why?  Both look great, one heavier than the other. But what else am I missing.

They are very different fabrics. The JC is fairly stiff shirting denim, that will break in with time. It has a flat smooth hand and will develop meaningful creases at the elbows. The kersey, despite its weight is a very soft, pliable material with a little stretch. It has diagonal ribs in it, almost like corduroy. It feels almost luxurious, while the JC is more rugged.

Without checking the compare function you may also find sizing slightly different. If memory serves, the JC is a little longer in the arms and body.

Both are glorious, but the Kersey fabric is a personal favourite.

Thanks for this input. Size wise the XXL is my size in both shirts and the fit would be very similar.  Will fading be different between the two?  I can see JC as a year round shirt, 12 oz isnt the heaviest of materials and I can tolerate it during the hot summers.  The Kersey I find would be best more so for colder times.

Both shirts are so called «Superblack». That is to say they are dyed with reactive pigment so fades happen very, very slowly, if at all. Your looking more at aging gracefully than «sick fadez».

If you want a black western shirt that fades, look at the IHSH-33-BLK or the IHSH-62-BLK.

As for temps, despite the weight difference, the 14oz Kersey is an open weave so it breathes very well. The JC is denim, and a tight weave. I don’t think you’d notice much difference.

Honestly super black is perfect for me. But the -33 and -62 you shared here are very nice too.  Those will end up in my closet with time.  Thanks again
