@RoxRocks86 Thanks! It's practically impossible to truly capture that Iron Heart magic on camera but I think I got pretty close.

@peregrine your pictures definitely show off the darkness better than mine. Fit looks great by the way. Did you shorten the inseam?

@Nskelton Thanks. Yep, I mostly prefer to rock stacks and/or cuffs with varying lengths but I wanted to try a cleaner silhouette with this pair. Had them hemmed by IHUK to 29.5" and after washing they now measure 28.75". These are now the shortest pair in my rotation but I think they turned out great.

It looks amazing Peregrin! I have to ask: have you tried getting on a bike in those? I live in Copenhagen, Denmark, and biking is 90 % of my transportation  🙂

Looking at the pair with not to much to compare to. I have a pair of Japan Blue J301s tag 31 (measurements in centimetres below).

There's definitely room in the waist, thigh and legs. I'm having difficulty assesing how the 777-XHSBB will behave after a 30 degree machine wash (no tub in my 1 sqmtrs bathroom).

Waist wise, I think the 32 tag in these would be best, but I'm sh** at assessing the other factors + countering in shrinkage.

              Hoping for some advice!

Are the PBJ measurements your own, from a worn pair, taken the IH way?

EDIT: as for how they will behave, the XHS ends up about the same, or slightly larger than measurements when new, after you have washed/soaked, then stretched them out. But if your dims for your old pair are shop dims from when new then you are comparing apples and oranges.

Thanks Neph! The measurements are the ones offered from Japan Blue, so 'new' - so you're saying the new JBJ measurements cannot be compaired to the new IH measurements?

Not if they measure differently, no.  That's why we suggest you do this:

As Giles points out, measuring methods vary. In addition different denim will shrink and stretch differently. By measuring your pair, yourself, using the IH method we know exactly what a worn used pair that works for you should be. These are our «target measurements». By then using what we know about the way XHS behaves we can work out which size will have starting dims that get you close to your target measurements.

I keep looking at these and I am seriously tempted. These are comprised of 2 different elements I pestered Giles for for several years. I hope maybe there's still a pair when I go back to work, if I ever go back to work.  😢

So uhm.. Another [stupid] question: how to determine one's inseam lenght. I figure to take a pair of denims with a good length, then cuff them the way I want - measure the difference and add it to the inseam (taking shrinkage into account). Do you gurus have a golden way, or does the above sound legit?

Also - if they're too loose, I see some people do hot soaks. Not owning a tub, would a 60 degree celcius/140 degree fahrenheit machine wash be ok to get some shrink going?

Just measure the length of a pair that fits you well in the length add one inch on for shrinkage (a bit more if you want to be ultra-safe).  Voila, you have your length.

I would be super-wary about chucking them in a washer at 60.  I think you will most likely end up with white streaks. I'd start at a gentle 40C wash, inside out, but make sure the jeans are soaking wet before you put them in the washing machine, and try not to spin or tumble dry.
