While checking out those monuments we got a preview of an area we’ll be camping at in Feb. Dead Horse Ranch St Pk is near Prescott Natl Forest which was otherworldly. Totally beautiful black rock canyons and ponderosa pines and Douglas firs. Also there is the town of Cottonwood which was super cool. Brew pubs and live music spots. Looking forward to checking them out.

I live in Prescott! Tons of trails and outdoor stuff to do up here.

Are you planning to hit the Grand Canyon at some point?

@Chris absolutely. Twice as a matter of fact. Our stay at Dead Horse Ranch is two weeks and we already did all the monuments nearby so we’ll probably make the two hour drive to do a day trip there. In April we’re camping near there for our planned GC visit and will do a few days there. We’ll be at the GC Hotel and RV Park. Camping at GC is tricky, we try to stay away from RV parks.

You should look into doing the North Rim. A lot fewer people and the views are possibly even better. I'm not sure when it reopens after winter closure, though.

I have fond memories of Joshua tree. It’s unique, and very beautiful. Glad you got to make the stop. All of these closures must be sort of annoying, but it seems like you’ve been able to see some great country and have adventures, in any case.

Leaving Lake Havasu City and finally have some internet and cell service. Getting new trailer tires now. One was about to blow and we found a good deal on new tires on the way out of town. Better now than driving down the road.
I’d also like to note my m enthusiasm for today’s swearing in of America’s oldest white dude and first woman of color as our representatives to the world. Honestly, he could have been a Madame Toussaud wax figure and still be more qualified than the prior clown. But it’s only been 3.5 hours and I already feel like we’re getting our shit back together.

After spending some time in a campground bathroom that I could only compare to those I’ve seen in holding cells I met our neighbor sporting, in apparent political defiance on this day, his red “45” cap. I promptly sent the children out with sidewalk chalk to make the largest “Wear A Mask” and “Black Lives Matter” banners they could in the road outside our and his trailer. The girls have very passionate views on social justice and take it upon themselves to spread the good word, I just provide some guidance on where to do it from time to time.

Lake Mead is pretty, and the Hover Dam museum is interesting for history nerds. I'm always fascinated by how much the water level has declined since I first saw saw it back in the mid 90s.
