I did the initial soak when I first got them and then did another soak after a fire extinguisher went off on them.  They are about ready for another wash/soak.

Yes indeed. I have had something like that develop on a few pairs.

Your hole is sat on a crease and I suspect it has worn on the crotch seam.

Very plausible.  Thanks @neph93.  Interestingly enough I swapped my desk to a standing one a couple months back.  Could had been interesting to see how the development changed with that modification.  Oh well.  I'll keep an eye on it so I don't get too much extra cooling.

@kiecker  I have had one of my pairs with a similar hole fixed, others not. You should get something done at some point as one day it will rip but that is a slow process. Like you say, keep an eye on it abs when the opportunity or need arises get it done.

As for fades and how they happen, I tend to think that jeans represent where you were and what you did at that time. It is a fun thought. Your next pair will likely be different because your habits and activities have changed.

I just phoenixed a pair of UHR that I lived in when I ripped my PCL. They bare fades from the brace I had to wear at the time. Kinda funny.

Interesting point Reuben.  My jeans for the last 13 or so years have always displayed a very distinctive back right rear pocket fade, caused by my OG IHG-035, the jeans that I have been wearing since March, do not have that fade.

I don't currently use a wallet, because I go nowhere that it is useful to be carrying one….

We should avoid calling them your COVID jeans because that is just depressing but it is pretty cool that a simple pair of jeans have been obviously and uniquely affected by a major historical event.

Question for you guys - I was wearing a pair of tag size 31 in these and just yesterday got a pair of 32’s because the 31’s were too tight. They’re perfect other then the left leg when cuffed is almost folding in on the selvedge seam. This wasn’t happening on my 31’s and call me crazy (I know I am) but it bugs. Anyone have advice on how to either force or train the denim to not fold like this? I figured the pro’s like @neph93 or @alexswords might have a trick.

Is there any way for you to spread that crease/creased up denim out? Possibly from the inside. Maybe turning them inside out and ironing out the crease might help.. If you uncuff them is it still there?

Never seen it before, but I’d imagine the above suggestion will help. I also thing it will go away as you wear them in.

My guess is, how Jeans been
folded and fold line going all the way up.

Possibly Iron may sort it out.

But for me I would soak it in hot water and let
It tight up. So it don’t give way to being  relax on the leg

                              Or live with it.

                              Your jeans your choice..

@Giles - what’s the best way to protect the denim so that it doesn’t burn? Cover with a towel?

Iron from the inside for sure. Have a towel inbetween if you like, but from the inside, you won’t need it.

I don't bother with a towel.  If I think I need to seriously tame a bit of wayward denim, I'll get it damp. then give it serious grief from a very hot iron….
