Our second traditional advent dinner is pork rib with white sausage, sourkraut, stewed apples and prunes, and so on. Very fatty, very good.

The rib prep starts two days before with scoring and salting, then it is a four hour slow cook. The rest of it is very straightforward. Just add family.

Thank your! But this is not a complete picture. The two smallest ones are missing as the dinner was planned to be after their bedtime (they are 3 and 5 years old). Full house.

Big fat stockings are something I grew up with. To this day at the age of 47, if I celebrate xmas with my mother I’ll get a carefully curated, bountiful stocking.

This year my Mum and Dad are bound to the UK by covid, but I’m channelling her spirit any packing something special for my little guys.
