IHJ-12-BLK - Black Fleece Lined Cordura Windbreaker
-
Top of my 2020 list. Didn't get a notification, but thankfully my mate gave me a heads up so I pounced on an XL. Measured a couple of other similar type jackets, so I have everything crossed that this works for me.
Shame that I won't be able to wear it out and about when Essex goes into tier 3. Iguess the locals better get even more used to seeing a IH clad beardy weirdy wandering the streets just so I get to wear multiple layers everyday.
Can't wait to see some pics in the wild folks!

@Giles re branding on clothing. I usually avoid like the plague, BUT, I really believe that Iron Heart is a brand name that works well on a number of levels, it doesn't pretend to be anything it isn't, and the style of logos that you guys choose to print when you do stick them on anything are immaculate. The only design ever that didn't speak to my own sensibilities was the 'hard as duck' logo, but that's just me. I'd say that's a pretty good hit rate though

I love the look of that fabric Mo. great score.

Epitome of "dad cool" right there Sir!!

shop@ironheart.co.uk is best for asking specific questions of the crew…..

@giles will do sir, and @Alex has been kind enough to get back to me. I just thought a guide to fit might help others get an idea of fit on the basis of @kasi helpful comment above.
I've been hanging on this jacket's drop all year since I saw it's release date. Very excited to get hold of it.
There's usually a crew member fit in descriptions but I didn't notice one for this. I usually go one size up from you boss.
Edit: Ignore me… There's a fit for Graham...

+1 very tasty. I’m getting more and more tempted by this. Long time since I’ve had anything technical.
-
@Stuart.T I really like the body length on that jacket. Long enough that it's not short, and short enough that it's not long.
money in the bank

@jordanscollected @neph93 @den1mhead thanks folks. I'm happy with the length and general fit. I can wear a hoodie, or UHF, or type III comfortably underneath. I'm not likely to wear this with just a t-shirt. It's not a very breathable jacket, when I owned the IHJ 12 in brown, it was a sweat trap, and my arms would stick to the lined sleeves.
I'm very much a hardcore kid of the 80/90s, college windbreakers and work/mechanics jackets were the thing. IH have provided me with amazing updated versions of both American utility wear classics. I'm going to resist getting SXE screen printed on the back of this jacket, like I would have done in 1993!

A minor threat patch would suffice

@Appfaff or something subtle.

Sooooo, I've just discovered IH technical jackets…RIP my wallet.
I picked this up from Snake Oil Provisions -- great service! It's the version with the logo, so it's not exactly the IHJ-12-BLK but I figured you guys wouldn't mind
Sizing...this was tricky. Like Stuart mentioned, I don't ever plan on wearing this over a T-shirt, I was looking for a shell to wear over a sweatshirt or UHF. I'm 5'10" with a 40" chest and I usually take a large in most of the IH shirts (typically looking for 22-23" P2P on shirts/jackets). If I'm comparing the IHJ-12-BLK's P2P to other products, a small would've fit like some of my westerns, UHFs, etc., and a medium would've fit like an N1. Given that, I was pretty nervous sizing up to a large but I didn't think that the medium would've given me enough mobility over a sweatshirt. So, after talking with Kasi (thx yo!), and seeing that Graham also took a large, I pulled the trigger. It's perfect!
I initially had a concern about layering under something with knitted cuffs; I wasn't sure how a sweatshirt or UHF would fit underneath. Sometimes, the sleeves of the shirt underneath kinda bumps into a jacket's knitted sleeves and it's not comfortable, like the knitted cuffs hold the under-item's sleeves back. Maybe I'm alone there. Whether you know what I'm talking about or not, don't worry, I experienced none of that discomfort on this jacket.
Because I picked up the version that went to the retailers, it has the logo. Normally, I'm not a logo guy but I love that the logo is black on black. You can see it if you look, but it doesn't jump out at you. And you know what? It's a lovely friggin' logo. I wouldn't even have minded if it was yellow or red or blue!
Great, highly functional jacket. I definitely recommend it if you can get your hands on it.
