Holy crap @ARNC love the belt but this is also a cool concept–tattooing leather.

Thanks. I love the idea of the tattoo series (and the dragon was really cool) but I’m not into long wallets. Hope they revisit the idea at some point.

Same–a belt using that technique would be very cool though. Agreed that the dragon design was super cool.

I carry minimalist wallets and it's hard to beat my little Dyneema bifold for a wallet that has enough storage but is barely noticeable in the pocket, so I don't think I'll ever get leather again just because it can't match the thinness and weight.

        Think it, be it.

Thanks, @Jett129. It answers most of it but still wondering about the hardware being rivets or threaded Chicago screws. Been meaning to message him directly but haven't gotten there yet today.

That’s definitely my next belt from him and I’ve even bought a special buckle for it. Any chance you could post a picture of yours? @FlannelnBooze

I'll post a photo once I have it.

FYI, he uses rivets for better durability, but he said I could request screws to swap out the buckle. I nearly swapped to screws so I could put the occasional large belt buckle on, but opted to keep this one 'standard' with the quick release buckle. May want to send him a message to confirm before spending the money and expecting to swap out the buckle yourself.

.  @pechelman This might answer your question.

Pigeon Tree Leather has a pretty wide range/assortment of leathers and if he doesn’t have it he might be willing/able to track it down for you. Usually a pretty long wait for one of his belts.

I have recently discovered redwing belts and quite pleased. Unfortunately I can't grab the hawthorne one that looks epic due to jean dye but the russet is great.

I second this. Love burgundy and it pairs so well with denim.

Since you all know much about everything, it seems appropriate I post my question on here.
I'm looking for a good take on the belt buckle posted below. I have been using belts like these since forever, and I'd like to know if any of the reputable belt makers use a buckle like this - can't seem to find anything anywhere. I particularly like the adjustability, and the fact that you don't have holes in your belt.

Great question @tody . I inherited a nice buckle like yours from my father. It always worked with cotton/woven belts, but it would be fantastic to get it working with leather straps. I look forward the the info you glean here.

                            The journey is the objective.

@motojobobo This is the one I currently use:

The quality of the buckle is great in terms of sturdiness and how it holds up. But the plating goes away pretty quickly leaving it copper colored.

I dug a little deeper into their site, they have more options for a buckle like this.
One is a nickel plated buckle, which may be different from the one I have.
The other one is a stainless buckle with a high quality belt. I'm not sure if I want to spend nearly 230€ on a belt, though…

I ended up picking up a bweiss belt after that post in the natural veg tan / super beast. We discussed a couple of minor customizations and I'm overall happy with it. Communication was a little difficult for me, somehow having to explain what I meant by "center to center distance" between holes about 3 times, but we got there, mostly. The finish on the outside and edges of the belt is great but the inside/flesh side is a little rough with various knife cuts that go into the leather a little. They didnt bother me enough to bug him about it though given the massive thickness of the leather. As for comfort, the belt is very compliant around the waist and I have other belts that are stiffer and can be uncomfortable if tightened too much (e.g. laminated nylon and kydex gun belt). After a few months, the bweiss has taken on a natural form to my body and has already picked up some patina.

I also had an IH belt briefly and thought while it was overall nicer finished, I preferred the bweiss just slightly for its thicker leather that was stiffer in the plane of the leather where I like belts to be stiff.

Overall, I'd probably go back to buying a bullhide belt if they had the same options when I ordered over ten years ago. To me those belts I have from them are nicer finished overall, feels stiffer yet is also thinner, and they had a much more clear path to understanding and knowing what you'll get for customizations. ymmv
