IMO it's fascinating. Every work speaks directly. Striking and provocative. And I mostly agree with the political or social messages.
My problem with it is, that on one side it caricatures and criticizes capitalism and commerce, and on the other side it has become a huge part of it itself. Some of the works are sold for prices that are obscene. And the idea of shredding a piece right at the auction only increases the attention, and the monetary value. At the exhibition there was a shop at the end, where you can buy the prints (ok) but also Banksy socks, and Banksy wine (wtf) and all kind of cheap shit.
After all his (or their) work is often simple, not to say primitive and strident, which is good for street art, but I wouldn't put it on the same level of profoundness as other art. Maybe it should stay where it comes from, on streets, and not go on auctions or into museums. IDK
But my children really liked it …

That is an awesome story and happy for the people who purchased them. Got to admire people who bought art they liked versus buying something because of the name.
I hear what you’re saying… but… think of all the GAH and Wesco you could buy and still have a few pieces left over to put up in your place and gift to friends. I’d have bought the table too if I had seen it and known what it was. Hate on Capitalism all you want, you aren’t wrong. But I love my stuff.

Dennis, you know my personal circumstances so I wouldn't be able to actually be your butler. But my thought was I'd do it for room and board. I'd much rather honor and serve someone I care about than be a servant to Greedy-Ripoff-Corp for basically the same deal
