from my experience they will not get soft, at least not that soft as the 21oz or the 22oz

Yeah I have the older one and it's still very stiff and all most wind proof even though its over 5 years old.
But I love it for that reason its thick and solid giving good contrasting fades.

This will be my third fall/winter seasons wearing it. When I do, I try to just wear a tshirt under it so I can wear it indoors and outdoors. Wear it like a shirt. Always keep it on from when u wake up till bedtime. I 100000% recommend it, its the best fabric for a jacket IMO.

Is the left hand twill just way more rigid than like a 21oz standard denim? I love really hefty, tough fabrics.

Yes, this is what it says on the webpage:

This version is made from our incredibly robust 19oz left hand twill which is woven under extreme tension to create a dark indigo denim, resulting in one of the toughest type III's we make.

@Mizmazzle the 19oz lefty denim is noticeably tougher from the get go than the 21oz selvedge denim. I also think there is an air of unpredictability about it too! Definitely some of the nicest fades I've seen come from the 19oz LHT denim

They are both excellent jackets but the indigo is where it's at IMO.

Here are some lefty fades for @Oaktavia. I haven’t worn this much lately but I wished all my jackets looked like this.
I like the  way your jacket has those electric blue fades how’s it going?
