Just another working Tuesday for me, but it struck me that the classroom for my first year design and expression group (who I teach English to), is a bit different…. these are random shots of things lying about the place today.

Can’t recall… the only thing that has to do with my subject (worryingly), is the red and black basque, stockings and studded garters. One of the girls is doing a punk style board with an art history essay in English. Honest.

One of the great things about approaching 50 is that I don’t care anymore and the young women I teach aren’t embarrassed either. I’m borderline grandpa to them.

that's awesome. Parents in the States would be foaming at the mouth and beshitting themselves  if their precious little knuckleheads had a class like this.

I knew it was over when women started smiling at me. ::) instead of crossing the street . though thinking about it now  they were calculating risk.

I could theoretically be a grandpa, but 16 year olds do have a famously skewed sense of age. They think anyone over 30 is old af.

Another day in my favourite English class. They are doing vocational demonstrations and explaining/writing them up in English. They are minors, and permission was obtained to use their faces here.

They also like stealing my gear and trying it on…

Best part was I met a second cousin and her new husband whom I know only from online connection on Instagram and Zoom calls with the family. They came up on kind of a whim from New Orleans and she saw me! That was really special.
