@Giles I see early references (~2015) to this jacket being veg tanned instead of chrome tanned - was there a change made to the production process? if so, can you share why?

There was some false info floating around back then regarding this jacket, including that the Self Edge version had a higher quality leather. If I remember correctly, it was first listed as veg tanned and then corrected at some point to chrome tanned. Additionally, there were no references to tea core at that time.
I bought mine in 2016 and it was already listed as chrome tanned at that point.

While visiting home and family back in July I hit up Self Edge and snagged one of these guys in 38/M. Absolutely amazing jacket!

Yeah that's what I'm thinking I'd go with. I'd want it to be pretty trim, and tbh probably wouldn't zip it up too often. Tough call though!
Also random question for anyone in the US who's bought this jacket: did you have to pay duty on it since it's over x amount (I think it's like $800 maybe?). Not a biggie just wondering what the damage is.

Well, I got mine today, or actually the second one… originally got it in L thinking I could pull it off, but I basically would have had no wiggle room if I put on any kind of weight, and well… I'm getting older, so dadbod is real, actual dad or not
XL fits like a dream, though. What a beautiful jacket, will post some pics when I can — thanks @Max Power and @Chap for giving me a little back n' forth on size questions
