Even though I played drums all my life,I’ve always loved guitars, and been in guitar based bands. It was always a big deal when someone in the band got a new cool guitar. Was a big fan of Little Feat @steelworker, saw them a few times at The Beacon in NYC. Nice to hear you’re enjoying my photography. Thanks!

I love Little Feat so much @steelworker and @Jett129

While I appreciated Lowell's swampy R&B influence as well as the rest of the band's more proggy direction, I have just not been able to get into them without Lowell George, and I also absolutely cherish his solo bootlegs and "Thanks, I'll Eat it Here." I have immense respect for the musicianship of all the band (especially Payne, Barrere (RIP), and Hayward (RIP)–as a drummer I'm sure you appreciate his syncopated, second-line-influenced funkiness @Jett129 ), but IMO the true visionary was Lowell.

An enormous loss for music that he couldn't remain with us longer, because it seemed clear he was going to keep doing his thing with or without Feat.

        Think it, be it.

I will jump in on the Little Feat appreciation wagon. My dad had me listening to “Waiting for Columbus” when I was just a kid in the 70’s and their music has been a part of my life ever since. I still think they are vastly under appreciated. I just know that my ears perk up when someone says they like ‘em because it’s a sign of good musical taste in my book.  I have a cd of Paul Barrera and Fred Tackett that is actually really good in its stripped down form. Bu agree wholeheartedly that Lowell was the driving force.  Now I’m gonna go blast “Mercenary Territory”!!

Listen and try and take in where the beat goes…..

                I saw them in 1976.

@mikebarhoot I know sometimes TC Electronics stuff can be suspect but I’ve really liked my Ditto x2. They make a small footprint version called simply “Ditto”. I think they get generally good reviews too.

@Jett129 Thats a great video. Fred cracks me up and he totally knows his stuff.  Thanks for posting it. Also, his guitar is exactly what I’m drawn to. Here is my example…not as cool or original as Fred’s but I love the Tele in all its varieties.  Mine is based off a ‘59. I prefer the 3 ply/8 screw pickguard on Fred’s.

This is my 50th Anniversary 1954 Masterbuilt (Todd Krause) Strat. I bought it new in ‘04. I’m not really a strat guy but I was collecting guitars back then and I could not pass it up. It has a chunk of a neck and I think that might be what makes it sound so good.

Once we’ve got our house move out of the way I’m gonna get an amp. Has anyone had a Boogie MKV? I used to use MKIVs and straight cabs back when I was guitaring more seriously, and I adored them

                                        Here’s one of my basses.
                                        I think it’s a 2004. Could be 2005.

This is a 2004 model. Non-Custom-Shop Fenders from the 70’s onward are easy to date by serial number. S for 197X, E for 198X, N for 199X, Z for 200X, etc. The next number was the specific year in the decade. If there was an M at the beginning of the serial # it was made in the Mexican factory. So yours is a 2004 from the Mexican factory.

                                          Thanks.
I did the Fender number search and it gave me the option of Ensenada 2004/2005.
I’m happy to go with 2004.

I’m not the original owner of this one.

I have another MIM Jazz with a 2004 serial number.
It suffers from varnish flaking on the headstock - which I have read is a common problem of that year.
This being the case it gets slightly mistreated.
I have replaced the bridge with a more solid Gotoh.

@LewisStonehouse  I’ve never owned a Mesa Boogie but I know they’re awesome amps. I’ve kept kind of going down into smaller amps for a while (read…since having kids) and currently only have a Carr Skylark. It’s a 12 watt amp with a built in attenuator which can bring the volume down to bearable levels and still give you a lot of gain.  Admittedly my pedals could use an amp with more headroom but they still sound pretty good. I absolutely love this Skylark. I can’t imagine getting rid of it.
