So is the consensus to go with the same size as one of the standard thermals or waffle Henley's?  I typically go large in all IH shirting but went with medium in my waffles due to the stretchiness.  Worked out great

I wouldn’t size down in these. The material isn’t very stretchy. I sized up!

Up from your shirt size?  A large shirt in nearly any shirt I've gotten from IH is a pretty trim fit

I wear a medium (rarely large) in iron heart shirts. I have a medium one of these that fits more trim than I’d like, and the large is lovely.

                    I agree with Ann.

I would especially consider length, and how you want to wear them. The sizing has stabilized after the first run and they do not stretch like the standard waffles.

Based on current measurements I would go for large to wear alone and XL to put a tee under. I’m a small XL or a big L in shirts and can’t tolerate anything too baggy.

I seem to be an odd case here: Wearing xxl in almost all shirts (xxxl if I want to go shacket-style).

An XL in the 1700 is a Perfect trim fit! Can even wear a tshirt underneath.
                        So I went down here!

Also wearing XL in the 1301 waffle thermals, but could definitely size down to L there! Hell yeah, they stretch.

                        Use it or lose it.

Does this one stretch like the 1301? If somebody has any experience with this knit please give me some feedback. I have the 1301 in xxl and it fits because the material streches. If i go by mearuments without stretch it aint gonna cut it.

It is a waffle knit… but a different one to the 1301. It is heavier and thicker. It will stretch, but not quite as much as the IHTL-1301.

@yannis The 1301 does stretch a lot more!! This 1700 fabric has way more heft and density to it. It still has a certain amount of stretch, but I’d definitely not count on it to achieve a desired fit.

As said above, an XL 1700 fits me perfectly snug even after days of wear, whereas the XL 1301 starts out snug straight from the washer and quickly stretches to a more lose fit within hours of wear.

                                  Hope this helps.

Thanks guys. I just ordered it in gray. The grey has a 25 inch p2p according to the meautement table vs the black that has 24 inch p2p. I would of prefered the black but the 24 inch p2p scared me. Thank you both for the quick feedback.

That combo is truly made for the next ice age, though. I pull it off, when it’s freezing cold outside but I still want to show everyone that fekkin UHF 😂

                                        No need for another layer…

Maybe I should stop wearing my UHFs so trim I could never get that thermal under there  😃
