I only hot wash if I’m deliberately trying to shrink something. Cold wash still yields some shrink, I’m guessing especially with these since they’re unwashed. In the end, all I’m really debating is whether to hem em at 34 or 34.5, so it’s really probably pretty negligible any way I slice it.

I’m of the opinion that removing all shrinkage is the way to go, the answer to your hemming question is go shorter.

I have had three pairs of XHS and none of them have had the full inch of shrinkage in the inseam after hot soaks and trips through the machine.

If you do ever take the shrinkage out of the waist it will stretch back to OG measurements and possibly a little more. Just as an FYI.

@neph93 cool, man! That's very helpful. And it's funny, I've found that sort of thing too — I've only really done hot soaks with new pairs of unsanforized jeans, but in none of the cases have they shrank as much as estimated by the seller/brand. Usually about half estimated.

And I'll do a hot wash first thing — thanks for showing me the way, @Kasi and @neph93 🙂

EDIT: picked em up. Stoked! Now the wait…

Given how water temps, agitation from individual machines, and folks thinking they are doing one thing while actually doing another all create variable outcomes I think brands have to cover their butts and use liberal estimates to be on the safe side.

Makes sense. I just wash all mine in the tub now — my washer really sucks. It's got a sensing mechanism that just won't work right on a single-item load, so I just gave up on it for jeans and do mine all by hand. Ends up being better in the long run, more control.

Well, these are definitely the most hardcore jeans I’ve ever owned! Been a little busy with house stuff so just got a chance to finally give em a hot soak yesterday. They appeared to shrink quite a bit but tried them on the morning and they were actually fine — a little snug but showed signs of stretching back out fairly quickly. They’re still damp though! 😃 Seriousky dense fabric. Also insanely crispy — I’ve never had a pair of jeans that would stand up on their own quite so easily.

Anyway, I’m stoked! Gonna let em fry all the way and put some Obenauf’s on the patch. Will post some pics — tbh I think these fit better than any others I’ve had. A little tight now but will likely stretch to perfect 😛

Just grabbed a pair of these yesterday.  I kind of wanted the 777's more but there was none in stock in my size.  I think these may end up just as slim though.  I sized down and it looks like the measurements may be comparable.  Ill find out soon enough.  They look great and im sure Ill like them regardless.

Main difference I would say is the taper. The 666 for me is easier for boots where I can have issues with the 777.

I can’t believe I haven’t had the 666 cut yet. I think it’s the only cut I haven’t owned. These are perfect. Like everyone says, they are slim but still fit great over boots. I love my 21oz 555’s but they are basically summer jeans for me because I only wear my birks with them (I personally don’t like the look of that slim of jean on boots/shoes. Or maybe I  just don’t like the look on me). Better late then never!

I couldn’t pass these up during the summer sale.  After wearing 777-XHSib for the past 10+ months, these are a welcomed relief for the backs of my knees.  Post hot soak with some agitation, the fit is exactly what I was hoping for, although I wish I filled the seat out a little more  😃

I like the 666 the most, it's only the thighs that could be a tad bit roomier for my liking.

I've tried the 555, 666, 777, and the now extinct "Beatle Buster".  Historically my favorite fit has been whichever one I just bought  🙂  That said, the 666 is the only cut that I have returned to (so far) and I am really digging these.  I was between the XHS and the 19oz 666ib and was tempted to just get both.  Fortunately for my marriage, I only got these and I am very happy with the decision.

If a 666 fit you that tight, I don’t want to know how a 555 gonna show up your meat haha. Looking very good btw

They fit quite tight for me as well, a 555 for me doesn't work well. I am rather slim framed, but with a big butt and thighs  😢 😃
I went now with a 634 which seems to be great but again it's all about preferences. Some like taper, some straight legs. Others like to fit their jeans slim, others prefer a more roomier pair.

Will soon join the XHS club. My 666 XHS is on it's way. I tried the 555 cut, but somehow my body shape is not the best fit for that beautiful denim. I used to wear the 666 in 21 oZ and now decided to take the plunge and go with the 666 XHS. I usually wear size 31, but decided to size down considering the stretch that I will get after a few months. Now starts the wait for the post to deliver the package.

I sized down on my 666-XHS for the waist and thighs and to be honest I regret it. Even though this particular model seems to run a size big I don't know if I'd do it again. The measurements of the top block on the 36 are basically the same as my normal size, 38, but it sure does feel different. The most noticeable differences in my experience have been the thighs and low rise.

I thought it would get better but even after like 100 wears they're definitely my least comfortable and most inflexible pair of jeans. I took my normal size 38 in the XHSib version and they fit and feel 1000x better. If I had to do it again I'd just deal with having the waist be a little loose with my usual size or pick a different pair of 666.

This experience has once again illustrated to me that not every model of a cut I like will work for me. I'll think long and hard about ever sizing down again.

That being said I'll probably wear this pair again when it cools down, just not when I need to have a good range of motion or lounge.
