Do they get softer the more you wash and wear it, i had a crew in XL it was rough on the skin and couldnt fit my head through the hole ended up giving it away.

Hi @ghettomedic I have a XL in black. I'd consider it soft, and it softened with wear. I'm usually a XXL in IH jackets and xl/xxl in IH shirts and I'd definitely go for an L next time. The top button is tight on the neck for the first few wears but soon loosens, plus you can obviously unbutton.

Did you go xl based on your chest size ? Or typical IH shirt ?

        Thanks

@Mustafa911 definitely a size down from shirts. I do L in these and could even go M for a slim fit. I'm XL in shirts.

Yeah… I can imagine the being a little roomy on you  🙂

I had a small henley, which is a size down for me, and felt like it was too tight. I have a medium in the regular thermal that fits just right.

Do you think the chest can stretch 1-1.5” . I am usually xxl. 22.5- 23” chest . I am considering large that has a chest 21.1”

They probably stretch an inch tbh. But two things to remember:

                    1. They go back to original size with a wash, and stretch out during the first hour or two of wear. So expect a tight fit when you put them on in the morning after they have been washed.

                    2. Watch the length, especially if you are planning on tucking or have a belly. The more you size down, the shorter they get.

@JCMx800 sorry to quote a 5 year old post! I really like how this fits you, and think I’d also need an L to achieve something similar. Do you mind me asking your height and weight?

                          No problem!!!
I am 183cm and the L was really long to be honest. I think the next one should be a M or even S.

Just for some extra data, I do XL in shirts and I'm 6' tall. I take L in these, and would take M but they'd be a little short on me.

I'm not an adherent of minimalism in general and certainly not with regards to IH, but these are exceptionally comfortable, functional peices of clothing. Warm, well, made, tough but soft, they work great as sweaters or base layers. I have one of each colour and about five of the IHTL-1301's.

I sized down to small once, and ended up thinking it was too tight, and short. The medium, I like, but large is where it’s at for comfort, IMO. I’m 6’1, 185lbs.

Safe to say I’m not an adherent out choice, but out of financial (and marital) necessity! Since I’ve discovered IH, I’m not really interested in buying anything else. If I wasn’t limited financially I would have an enormous collection 😃
But since I am limited in what I can buy, I try to choose carefully and make sure the items I do get will be functional and see lots of use.

Great, I’m identical weight/height. I definitely don’t want this thing to be a skinny fit so a large sounds good to me also.
