@adam313 Are saying that about the buttons because they are too hard to button after it shrinks? Or is it to help stretch out the jacket to fit my gut?

They are always “hard” to button when new, but the reason to put it on and at least button the bottom button (two would probably be better) and wear around is so that you can stretch it out to fit your needs. The best time to do that is when it is still damp. Otherwise you are at the mercy of the shrink, which might be too much or might be just enough, you won’t know until you try. If you hang it to dry and then take it down while damp and wear it buttoned, at least you can use that resistance to bend over and move around and squat to help the bottom hem stretch a bit if it shrinks too much for your liking.

I just tried the jacket back on and I'm not sure if I even want to hot wash it at this point. It already does feels nice the size that it is at now. Hot washing is starting to make me nervous.

You can always simply hot soak the top part first, leaving the bottom untouched. And then whenever you wanna wash, just do it regular

Went ahead with a hot steamy soak. Also decided to switch to maybe a shirt for the RR. I want to be able to wear this outside before it gets hot.

Here are post-soak photos of better clarity and lighting. I put it in a hot steamy wash but the hot water ran out halfway through. It feels better already and less "folded" if that makes sense. Feeling great about it now.

@sabergirl thank you. After the soak I feel awesome about it. Currently wearing it buttoned up (what a chore) and damp to work, as @adam313 suggested. My fingers are blue and my thumbs are sore and somehow that is a good thing with this hobby
