        @goosehd:

        I just saw on another forum that guys are trying to sell these at $6000-$7000 (USD) above the original asking price ($14,000).  I wonder when this madness will stop.

        No idea. I'm seeing Rolex Datejusts selling over retail, and that is their bread-and-butter line.

        @kye4some that Bond Omega looks good!

              Not planned when I bought it but the red in the 269 works pretty well with my Fastrider Chrono.

                I'm lucky enough to control myself about watches : I always had only one. After a Sinn and a Stowa I got the Tissot T complication which is perfect for me : size, look, I love it ! Just not found of the strap that comes with it, I changed it as soon as I got it.

                      I admire your self control. I’m not quite so good but sticking at three for now. The Fastrider, a SAR (I don’t think I’ll get a better picture than @Anesthetist) and a Meistersinger Pangaea (because sometimes one hand is enough).

                        Is that Panerai a 210?  I'm just doing that from memory.  I still have a PAM24 from the G year.  I have no idea how long that's been now but they must be close to running out of letters.

                        I'm currently down a rabbit hole with Grand Seiko.  I got my true grail a few years back when I decided for the controversial and least like a Patek Philippe 5524, the aviator's watch that they could have made in the 1920s that they didn't and the one that looks too much like others.  I wear it so that no one will notice and look at it for every reason but the time.

                              There are rumours of a new Nautilus (6711?), some of which suggest it might have a titanium case, so it's probably a storm in a teacup. Who knows, maybe it'll even get a hacking movement in the update.

                              I'm amused when Thierry Stern, the head of Patek, says he has concerns about the company being "too commercial". With a turnover of around $1.5 billion, it's not as though it's a little atelier in a back street of Geneva! 😃

                                Get the marketing team on it STAT! I guess in the grand scheme of things, their output isn't anywhere near the million watch giant that Rolex is but they aren't exactly A Lange either. I went into a Patek dealer in St Thomas and found 2 well mannered French sales staff in well tailored tropical suits and about maybe 15-20 watches on display. They were all pretty much high complications so I didn't even ask about pricing. No sports models, no base models, pretty much nothing of interest unless you took your yacht in to the harbor. The very nice gentlemen  said if a sport watch or cheaper model comes in, they sell almost instantly. Is there the same amount of hype or lust that follows a steel Submariner? Maybe? Similarly, the AP dealer said the same about steel Royal Oaks and many of the AP dealers had caps on what you could buy, not that I saw anything even remotely obtainable for most people. Is there really that much demand or are the manufacturers trickling out watches to keep the demand high?

                                My wife and I were at the high end mall so she could spend some Christmas money and I wanted to look in LV to price purses for our anniversary this summer. There was an hour wait to get into the store and once they txted me that my time slot was open, the store was damn near picked clean. I've been in that store a few times before and they've always had a TON of stock around. Is it because of the pandemic? People having more money because they can't travel? Or the brands themselves?

                                  Patek's turnover was reportedly down by 20% last year, and their competitors are said to be in worse shape.

                                  So some of the shortage could be attributable to production taking a hit due to Covid-19.

                                  The wealthy have largely dodged the pandemic recession. The jobs hit tended to be more at the minimum wage end of the scale (e.g. tourism, hospitality, retail, etc.), I reckon most asset prices are deeply into bubble territory, and credit is generally cheap. So, the 1% have more money to spend, and I suspect that some of it has gone on watches and fancy handbags.

                                            Very high quality timepieces and great work w/r/t fumé dials. Most of what I've learned about them has been from HODINKEE however there's a nice sub forum on The Rolex Forum for Moser owners. I'd suggest popping in there and seeing what their take is on them for day-to-day wear. You eyeing any of them in particular? Perhaps the Streamliner? Happens to be a favorite of mine even if I've yet to do a hands-on with it.
