Hmm owning a pair of engineers (albeit not Mr. Lous) and some 555-01s, I'd guess no. Somebody might prove me wrong though!

Amazing jeans nonetheless, dear to my heart due to being my first pair of IH.

Mr. Lou’s are designed to be worn with slim, tapered jeans with narrow leg openings. It is one of the features that separates them from a regular Boss boot on an MP toe.

that must have a very narrow shaft to fit under some 555s

Not promising they do, but Wesco have narrowed the shaft meaningfully with the intention of fitting them under that kind of jean.

Actually, I can wear my IHWE-5 and my custom burlap Boss (MP toe) under 555’s if I tighten the top strap. So I am strongly suggesting it is doable.

Here the Mr Lou are over a slim pair of 777s

I have a photo of them over some 555S-21 somewhere, will keep looking. The point being, that is what they are designed for, and they work under all our slim jeans

Over either the 555 or 777 (probably 777-UHR)

Just slipped on my new pair. Wonderful. Perfectly snug on the waistband, and top block perfection. It’ll be interesting to see the stretch. I want something comfortable. The denim is so much softer and supple than the 555 SBG from the get go. Thanks to the team for swapping these for the 888S, which really didn’t work for me.

Me too. Have retired my 777 14. There were never the same after a wash, and once I wore a pair of 555…..

Don’t get me wrong 777 look good... after a wearing for a while don’t get my
votes...  that what happen with my 777 25oz

555 remains the same a truly winner...

Normal wash, hang in front of radiator, wait four days, done

It’s still air drying if you hang them to dry inside the house.

And then there’s Denim Rambler who would air dry his jeans outside in the Alaskan winter. Obviously he’d have to thaw them out after that. I think he took 2nd place in the Denim Fade Competition.
