I see… their sheer size alone makes them dangerous. But I thought they would flee like deer when humans appear. My father worked in the automotive industry and was many times in northern parts of sweden where the winter testing grounds are... he was always adviced to drive very carefully up there not to have an accident with a moose.

Up in the Great White North, if you hit a moose with your car, your car is done and you will sustain some injuries, but the moose will likely walk away fine.

They can be quite surly.
Difficult to see on the road they're so tall that the legs are at eye level and you get 1200lbs. of moose in the face. ??? -
Moose crashes are a serious problem. On our 2000km round trip through Norway this summer I saw three elk in stretches of road that are windy and have a 80-90km/h speed limit. Luckily didn’t meet one on a bend. However we did come upon a elk that had been clipped by a car and had to wait in a queue for an hour while a vet came out to put it down and remove it.
As for their attitudes to humans the males just walk around like they own the place and don’t give a fekk. Mothers with their calves are the problem though, which was why this morning was tricky. Some of my idiot neighbours came out of their houses to take pics and boxed them in. The mother got super stressed and charged a woman but broke it off when the woman legged it.

Armed Robbery Gosport Styley….
Last night, our taxi driver from Heathrow to Gosport regaled us this brilliant story of an armed robbery that occurred at a betting shop in Gosport whilst we were away.
At about 3PM last Sunday, 2 local smackheads went into the local Coral betting shop and asked what time they closed. Not at all suspicious.
A few minutes before closing time, they reappeared, but there was a customer placing bets, so they started playing the fruit machine to kill time. Once the other person had left, assailant #1 pulled out a gun and demanded that the cashier "hand over the cash". She refused, assailant #1 brandishes the gun and asks her if she wants to die. The cashier (a proper Gozza lass) replies "not bothered". Assailant # 2 pulls out a machette and inserts it under the small slot between glass and counter and sweeps it left to right (no other motion being possible), apparently, it got to almost within 3 feet of the cashier. Said cashier repairs to kitchen and locks herself in. CCTV then catches the perps, looking at each other in a smack-induced haze of confusion, basically asking each other WTF now? They decided to flee.
The beautiful irony of it all is that they left credit in the fruit machine.
