Advertising is promising protection for 8 years. On the basis of salt water and sand drifts, the railings have to be painted every single year.

Gosport is a military, primarily naval, town.  Up until late last century we had one of the largest armament depots in the UK, just down the road from us.  I currently fish on the foreshore in front of the depot.

Yesterday, I found this on the beach, it is a stone "Round Shot" which pre-dates cast iron shot, probably dating from the 16th century….
