Catch of the day [Fishing]

Hence the bigger smile?

Love those paddle tail soft baits. All I use here in the river. Can’t wait to fish it with my kayak
-
What size is it? Unweighted hook? Looks good

11.5" Crappie. That's pretty big for MN.
The bass have eluded us so far this year, but the hammer handle northern pike kept our rods bent and hands slimy.
I'm taking my nephew out Saturday morning, will report back.

Took the middle son out for a day of fishing yesterday, and as @Giles knows the worlds strongest maelstrom is just over the fjord from me. If you hit the tides right it is great fishing.
I knew from the almanac it wouldn’t be one of those days unless we went very early or very late, but the lad did alright in the quiet water in by the rocks. I was casting long and going deep and didn’t get a bloody thing [emoji1]
And yes, the boy is wearing my IHC-15.

Great…..
It was great. One not so great thing that I’m trying not to dwell on is that I got to use that great real with one of those 85g lures you have me, in my brand new rod. It was an absolute pleasure in terms of casting and control. Seba slammed the car door shut on the rod at the end of the day and snapped it. Fml.

Was going to say the same thing–he is proud of his fish.

Definition of fishing rod: Cumbersome item of fishing tackle easily made less so by application of car or trunk door.
Most decent brands will have a lifetime warranty to the original owner for damage, however, caused.

Awesome @neph93

@giles Nice work. You are figuring out your local waters quickly. I was shucking oysters a few weeks ago and found a few crabs inside, a bit smaller though and not alive.

I've started to explore this area, only 5 mins walk from home. Requires shorts or waders to fish at the right state of tide.
Though last night I did ship a load of water. The wind was so strong it blew me off balance and my feet were stuck in the mud, so I toppled over into knee-deep water…..
