I'm not crazy about the sashiko look, doesn't do anything for me.
        A red 46 though… I like that.

Wearing my black 46 today. It’s one of my all time favorite lighter weight IH pieces and I’d buy another in a heartbeat.

I've been wearing my 178 a ton over the last few months. I love how the cpo is that in between shirt and jacket, as well as a nice alternative to a sweatshirt. I'd love to see a Cash CPO, something in the 12oz range that fades.

I remember suggesting a sashiko something or other awhile back because it sounded like a good idea at the time. But, I’m now of the opinion that sashiko works best when other companies like SDA, PBJ or Samurai are using it in their lines. It strikes me as something that is the polar opposite of the IH look

I agree. I wouldn't call it gimmicky, per se, but it's unnecessary.  I could be wildly off base in trying to read his mind, but it has always seemed to me that Haraki designs things to be as simple as possible. The impressiveness of IH gear is in the quality of the materials and the attention to construction, finishing, and details.  Shashiko, in its modern form, not its utilitarian roots, is just kinda flashy.  I like it, don't get me wrong, it's just that it doesn't seem to fit here.

Haraki has said he does not like sashiko to me in the past, but never say never.

Until then @organisys this maybe your size:

Yep, I was thinking some of the Aesthetics of Sashiko with the weight and heft of a heavy Duck.

The now extinct IHSH-166 was a 12oz superblack CPO. It was made of the same denim as the Johnny Cash shirts though, so no fading.

You’d need something either made from the same denim as the IHSH-33-BLK; or a new double black, sulphur dyed denim, both with tonal stitching to get a fading version.

sashiko used to be utilised a lot in repair work and it represents the love in mending items so that it can be used for longer. a blanket for example.. but recently sashiko is a bit overdone at the moment. everyone seems to be doing it that it doesn't feel that special anymore..

Pretty stiff stuff that duck. Building bigass pockets out of those would give an «interesting» look.

I assumed the IH 724 serge camp shorts did well. The only reason I suggested duck was because of their durability. I frequently run into the issue of fabric wear on the front pocket of shorts/denim because that’s where I keep my keys. I know that I could use a key ring or just not keep them in my front pocket, but then again, that defeats the purpose of having pockets in the first place.

But I digress. Brown or Indigo duck would look cool but if it doesn’t make sense to make then I understand that as well. IH has enough on its plate already.

I think the colour would be great, and in principle duck would be superb for the qualities you mention. I’m sure H could make a design for duck shorts work, and I’m sure cargo shorts made of 17oz duck are theoretically possible. However the IH 17oz duck is pretty heavy duty stuff and the pockets would be boxy af for a while before they relaxed.
