Love this Dyneema wallet. If you don't like carrying a wallet this thing is perfect. Works in shirt pockets too.

Also love this ZT 0450 Sinkevich flipper. It also has minimal pocket presence but is built like a tank.

The Prometheus keychain flashlight is also recommended. Detaches and clips back in to the keyring easily.

      Think it, be it.

Hi Guys it’s been a while! 🙂 I’m wondering if anyone can help me out here, so I have a small pocket knife collection going on and really want to add this one to it.

        https://www.riversandrocks.com/rick-hinderer-xm-24-spearpoint-vintage-series-smooth.html

        I assume you checked this:

        https://www.gov.uk/buying-carrying-knives

There is a difference between what you can carry and what you can buy/sell.

The list of knife types you cannot buy is on the linked page. First glance suggests your desired knife is not a problem to buy but as you say will be illegal to carry. I’m not an expert though, so have a good look.

Sure that’s the same thing I read before the purchase, the law seems very vague on it all so I may very well Cancel as it’s not worth the risk!

I’ve had a closer look. I can’t see that the knife you’re buying qualifies as something on the banned list. The length of the blade and the flick mechanism means you can’t carry it, but buying it, or indeed selling it to someone over 18 is legal.

The page does recommend that you ring to a police station if you’re unsure [emoji1]

I’m pretty sure @Cutlasshound will be able to answer this definitively.

Great stuff! I was going to ring and check today just to be sure!

As you say I was confident in it not being on the list before purchasing as it doesn’t seem to match any of the banned criteria.

I then read afterwards on another forum that it’s down to customs to decide wether the “flipper” mechanism may be classed as illegal for some reason. This then got me worried as I’d read the government guide lines and it seemed ok. As I say the law is pretty vague it seems and hard to find real answers.

The law is clearly designed to discourage this kind of purchase, and if customs do indeed have the final say then I’m sure they will be difficult out of principle [emoji6]

This peaked my interest so I’ve read a little more. My understanding is that flippers can be considered as switchblades or automatic knives as opposed to being a folding knife. If the button retracts the blade or releases it in a certain way then customs don’t like it. If you’re in their hands then you are taking a risk in my opinion.

Anything non-locking with a blade length less than 3 inches you can carry at your discretion.

I would steer clear of anything else, unless you have good reason to carry (i.e work). Otherwise just not worth the risk.

@Jord666 you can't go wrong with Hennie Haynes. They categorise all of their knives and have the following UK legal carry category

                          https://www.heinnie.com/knives-and-tools/uk-friendly-carry-knives

Basically in the UK, a knife has to have a blade length of 3 inches or less, not have a physical lock (body lock etc), appear 'non threatening - vague, but nothing that looks like it's designed to be a weapon rather than a tool, so no zombie knives!).

Ultimatley it is at the discretion of the law. I work quite closely with the police, where knife crime is an obvious issue. Most confiscated knives are kitchenware, machete type affairs, or DIY shanks - anything untraceable.

Have a look at the above and you shouldn't go far wrong.

So of course they banned knives that don't match that description whatsoever.

I know. It is crazy what I've come across people being able to buy in th UK from other countries… Tazers that are sold as 'torches', replica firearms that can be made live or be rebored, not to mention the type of kitchenware readily available in any number of high Street shops.

I think legislators intentions are twofold, 1) manage the general public and populist media lobbying, 2) to keep offensive weapons out of the hands of criminals... Who may have stolen your legitimately owned collector's knife.
