I never engage with bronze medal matches, in any sport, and especially not when my team is involved. Bloody silly idea. As a sporting genius once said, “First is first, and second is nowhere”. QED third and fourth are utterly irrelevant.

Time to revive this thread as the world cup is just about to start. Living in the US, I bought a subscription to Peacock TV in order to watch the games. The games are playing at manageable hours for us in the Americas, which is awesome. I'll be rooting for France, which starts the tournament with a hard match versus New Zealand's All Blacks.

@JDelage it’s an incredible match to kickstart the tournament. They could meet again in final, although South Africa might have something to say about that unfortunately.

Not holding out much hope for the ‘home nations’.
Ireland (and Scotland) have it all to do on their side of the draw (along with France, NZ and SAf); England and Wales might stumble on to a reasonable outcome, but only through a lack of competitive opponents on their side (even Aus are seemingly out of form). They (England and Wales) could just as easily slip up against a so-called ‘lesser’ nation.

Went to England v Wales at Twickenham yesterday, and recovered today by watching the Ireland v Italy game…
