        Love them!

The Sunday of Greensky Bluegrass' 2019 Red Rocks run was Tie Dye Sunday in honor of Billy Strings. I'm in one at the left and that's my wife with the tie dye tights. Wifey doesn't afford me too many permissions to wear tie dyes so I was happy to have not only a pass, but a conspirator.  I wish I could remember who made my shirt, but I recall his being a Tennessean.

Billy and his band all wore them too, but that may have just been business as usual:

Tie Dye indigo sounds intriguing - or maybe tie bleaching a previously indigo garment…. Personally I like tie die when it's a lot less random - maybe something more akin to batik, but I have seen tie die work that was very structured and it was lovely.

That is my favourite one. Wonderful colours, very cosmic.

Imma try it too! I'll be starting with some cheap tees and then moving into some nice one that got stained. Thanks for the inspiration (move me brightly), @adam313

Pretty happy with the results for our first attempt. Next time I’m going to use discharge paste and or bleach to get some of those cool effects that @adam313 has.

@Palmer Those are righteous results! I'm in love with the fluid dynamics, it's magical every time. Keep in mind that the IH fabric is a different beast. We learned that straight away lol, sometimes the fabric acts like the Frenchman in the castle from Monty Python  😃 "Now go away or I shall taunt you a second time!"

Does anyone know if indigo dyeing has been done inside a vaccum chamber? In theory that would help the dye penetrate deeper into the garment threads… A vaccum chamber can be had (or made) for pretty cheap....

If you are rope-dyeing then a vacuum chamber is the last thing you want. If you want deep penetration (vicar) then you need to cone (or cheese) dye….

If vacuum sucks (ha) for it then I wonder if pressure would be an alternative.

I was thinking of a vacuum chamber as a tool to garment dye a piece already made, say a white t-shirt or a cotton sweater.

This being said, I'm curious why "if you are rope-dyeing then a vacuum chamber is the last thing you want"?

Vacuum chambers are used to "stabilize" pieces of fancy-but-fragile wood (e.g., wood burls) used for crafts, such as knife handles. The way it works is that the craftsman would put pieces of wood in a bath of epoxy / resin / etc, sometimes with dyes, and create a (low grade) vacuum to "pull" the air out of all the tiny flaws and cracks in a piece of wood. the wood becomes saturated with the glue and dye and becomes effectively very hard.
