My mode of transport for the last week on holiday. Rebuilt from scratch (not by me). Amazing fun to drive around the lanes of Southern France, not so great on the autoroutes…

I agree completely.  This is way too soft and round.  Look at what Mercedes did with the G-Wagen.  They maintained the design and character of the previous generation and did a fantastic job at that.  Chris Harris even likes it:
