It’s always a great moment when we welcome a new addition to our stable of brands and we are proud to introduce Fine Creek Leathers to Rivet & Hide.
Taking inspiration from vintage 40’s, 50’s & 60’s designs FCL reimagines and recreates new and modern masterpieces at its downtown Tokyo atelier. The finest horsehides are handpicked before the highly regarded Himeji tannery utilises FCL’s own secret tanning recipe which results in an unparalleled and unique leather. Each jacket is made from one hide. Each piece is guaranteed to earn a cherished place in your lifetime wardrobe.
The Leon Custom uses a 1.3mm veg tanned black aniline hide – teacore, to reveal the original brown as the jacket wears and breaks in. The hardware has been pared right back to offer a minimalist styling, allowing the focus to be on the clean lines of the jacket. The lining is cupra, which feels like silk but breathes like cotton.
Strong and sturdy as the Leon Custom is (and it really is), there is a big brother in the shape of the Leon 2mm. Eschewing none of the classic accessories of a traditional biker jacket this includes the epaulettes and belt as standard. Both models in the Leon range have been meticulously stitched with different thread tensions to allow the leather to sit flat, articulate or pucker as appropriate.
The custom Norfolk is a true statement piece. With a stunning interpretation of a Sukojan jacket Fine Creek Leathers has elevated the souvenir style to a previously unseen level. 1mm burgundy Himeji horsehide suede. Veg tanned. Hand-stitched gold rayon embroidery and rayon lining. We customised the jacket stripping back the original embroidery details on the arm for a cleaner and well-balanced finish. This really is a magnificent artwork and fully deserves the attention it will earn.

@Kasi That's great to hear and thank you for saying so.

New arrivals from Stevenson Overall Co. are always a treat and this first drop for SS19 proves no exception.
The new, western styled ‘Trigger’ is a real beauty. The stitching has an ergonomic flow and incorporates the chest pockets to the front yoke demonstrating the high level of sewing technique the brand is well known for.
The denim version is a beautifully dark hued indigo, 6.5 oz. selvedge that uses Zimbabwe cotton. This shirt will shape and soften so well with wear. It is also available in a cotton/linen/ramie twill in khaki that incorporates an uneven yarn to allow this piece to age with character.

‘Carmel’ expands the evocatively named jeans that utilise SOC’s 14 oz. long staple American cotton and sanforized denim. Opening up the range to the guys who like a little bit of breathing room up top while maintaining a flattering, trim silhouette to the hem, these great Relaxed Tapered jeans also display the famed stitch details throughout.
For the perfect versatile accessory look no further than the scarf and/or bandana, with a myriad of uses incorporating everything from pocket adornment to headwear to scarf to dog collar and everything in between. Both use a discharge printed, unique paisley style design; the bandana in a solid navy, the scarf gently faded.
The Cowhide Trucker Wallet is veg-tanned and oiled. The traditional studded design is complemented by a talon zipper, 2 billfolds & a coin purse and comes complete with its own wallet chain.
We also have a full restock of the Quartermaster chinos in both indigo and khaki. Great fabric, great fit and an absolute warm weather essential.

The latest arrivals from Studio D’Artisan celebrate the brand’s 40thanniversary. They include stunning shirts that fuse beautiful fabrics and witty designs, new denim, an impressive range of loopwheeled T-shirts plus accessories.
Shop Studio D'Artisan https://rivetandhide.com/shop/brands/studio-d-artisan.html
The themes of the 40th anniversary shirts are inspired by Chōjū-jinbutsu-giga "Animal-person Caricatures" a famous set of picture scrolls or emakimono, from the 12th and 13th centuries belonging to the Kozan temple in Kyoto.
“Frolicking Beasts” is made using the natural fibre ramie which breathes well and has a silk-like feel. The graphic design is Nassen dyed, an ancient Japanese process similar to screen-printing, onto the indigo-dyed body.
Based on traditional 50's style Aloha shirts, "Pig Hugging Trees” is 100% rayon. From the city to the beach this shirt will keep you cool in every sense on hot and sultry summer days.
Even by Japanese standards Kazeome hand-dyeing requires assiduous attention and is painstakingly laborious. The yarns of the Sashiko Work Shirt are first moulded into small coils before being repeatedly hand-dipped into vats of natural indigo of subtly different hues. This really is one of the most impressive work shirts we have ever seen.
The Kasuri shirt is a jacquard woven, short sleeve and open collar summer shirt. It is dyed with varying hues of indigo.
The SP-031 is a special release 40th anniversary denim. These relaxed-tapered jeans come in natural indigo and ultra-soft Zimbabwe cotton. There is a touch of fine tailoring details with piping on the fly and a special anniversary pony-hair leather patch.
We have also added the SD-108 to our core range of SDA jeans offering a relaxed tapered fit in the signature 15 oz denim.
Studio D’Artisan’s legendary loopwheeled fabrics are made on Tsuriami knitting machines in Wakayama, Japan. Each year there is a limit to production levels due to the lethargic pace at which they weave, taking a couple of days to produce a textile a modern machine can produce in hours. The results speak for themselves: superb T-shirts that look great and stand the test of time.
We now offer SDA’s colourfully knitted Long Socks that use a double cylinder machine to produce a fabric of sublime comfort. The Dralon socks are equally as comfortable to wear. Dralon is a German fabric manufacturer that include moister wicking hosiery that draws moisture away from the body.
Finally, there is a 40th anniversary bandana on beige cotton with faded red print to celebrate this significant milestone in Studio D’Artisan’s long history.Shop Studio D'Artisan https://rivetandhide.com/shop/brands/studio-d-artisan.html

Nine Lives proves once again their complete mastery and control over materials and styling with the exemplary “Más o Menos” jacket. For a 1.3mm steerhide this leather is an impossibly soft and supple veg and chrome tanned combination, reflecting the skill of Japan's Himeji tannery from which the hides are sourced.
As we have come to expect from this brand, the cut is impeccable - modern without being ‘trendy’, classic without being ‘retro’. There are no epaulettes, belts nor adornments to detract from the sharp silhouette and a rich navy satin lining adds to the understated beauty of this great piece.

Giving us that warm, sunshine feeling are the new season offerings from The Flat Head. First up a 6 oz, indigo shirt perfect for a balmy evening. With a relaxed, yet trim ‘work’ cut, this dobby loomed, selvedge fabric is full of texture and will breathe to keep you cool.

The Bird and Palm Tree shorts are both stylish and practical with a two pocket front and rear cut and drawstring waist. Displaying a striking yet subtle tonal navy design, and utilising a 90% cotton 10% linen make up, these are a ‘go anywhere’ option that will carry through until the evening with ease.

@Danny RnH Are there Pictures of the FCL Event?

No photos taken to publish but the event was very informative. We learnt a lot about which styles our customers favour which will inform 2020 orders. @Max:

I absolutely love those Flat Head shorts and would buy instantly. But the XL is 33.5". Oof!
-
Popped into R&H the weekend to checkout the trunk show. I found the guys from FCL really passionate about their jackets and seeing the full range in the flesh made me appreciate the workmanship even more.
I was 99 percent sure i would order a Leon custom but after having a good look at the Eric, I changed my mind and I plumped for one of those. From the pictures I wasn’t sure if I would like the jacket as a lot of them show quite a contrast in grain between one side of the jacket to the other, however in person it’s a lot more subtle and for me at least I liked the clean silhouette.
-
I still would have liked to ask them about cutting of the belts, as I'm thinking of doing that to my Leon. Only my wife tells me not to do it

@Max Power Any specific question then let me know and they'll be super helpful in giving you a quick answer.
My advice; don't rush to do it. Be absolutely sure.
