Nine Lives proves once again their complete mastery and control over materials and styling with the exemplary “Más o Menos” jacket. For a 1.3mm steerhide this leather is an impossibly soft and supple veg and chrome tanned combination, reflecting the skill of Japan's Himeji tannery from which the hides are sourced.
As we have come to expect from this brand, the cut is impeccable - modern without being ‘trendy’, classic without being ‘retro’. There are no epaulettes, belts nor adornments to detract from the sharp silhouette and a rich navy satin lining adds to the understated beauty of this great piece.

I absolutely love those Flat Head shorts and would buy instantly. But the XL is 33.5". Oof!
-
Popped into R&H the weekend to checkout the trunk show. I found the guys from FCL really passionate about their jackets and seeing the full range in the flesh made me appreciate the workmanship even more.
I was 99 percent sure i would order a Leon custom but after having a good look at the Eric, I changed my mind and I plumped for one of those. From the pictures I wasn’t sure if I would like the jacket as a lot of them show quite a contrast in grain between one side of the jacket to the other, however in person it’s a lot more subtle and for me at least I liked the clean silhouette.
-
I still would have liked to ask them about cutting of the belts, as I'm thinking of doing that to my Leon. Only my wife tells me not to do it

Thank you for coming to the Trunk show. They really enjoyed it and benefitted greatly from meeting everyone and hearing our customer's preferences and wishes.

My advice; don't rush to do it. Be absolutely sure. -
As the summer arrives in earnest, two of our big hitting brands turn up the heat with new arrivals to bring a bit of sunshine to us all. Please welcome our final summer season drop from Stevenson Overall Co and The Flat Head.
Bending and twisting the rules as always, the Stevenson Overall Lone Wolf jacket is an inspiration in technique and innovation. Classic workwear chore styling sets off this 12 oz indigo dyed jacquard weave in a stunning Native American pattern. Woven eight different ways with six different coloured yarns alongside the indigo, the other colours are also engineered to fade with wear.
The Coloma brings us a relaxed straight fit in an ultra soft long staple 12 oz indigo selvedge denim providing an excellent lighter weight jeans solution. Full of all the special little details that we have come to expect from Stevenson and with a cinch back, these are a perfect meeting of style and function.
Specially designed for hot, humid conditions and using the soft and fluffy texture that only a Terry Cloth can provide, the Beach Shirt has an evocative palm design with a slim fit and chest pocket. Looks great with chinos, jeans, shorts - you name it. An instant hit in store, coastal cool never looked or felt so good.
A more understated option that still packs a style punch, the Rising Sun pocket T has a beautiful Mike Hodis design to the chest pocket incorporating the Stevenson logo to the fore of a rising sun. Its seamless, loopwheeled construction provides a great fit and the promise of unbeatable comfort.
Continuing the homage to Native American designs and crafting are the Nativo Baja shorts. These are really something special. Board short length, drawstring waist and in an indigo dyed jacquard weave, they are guaranteed to make a splash from the beaches and bars of Monte Carlo through trekking at Angkor Wat and a new moon party at Phuket.

The Flat Head proves once and for all that pre-fading is best left to the experts by taking their classic 10 oz selvedge denim western shirt and sympathetically fading it out to its new ‘ice blue’ appearance. So beautifully is this done that the result is almost nostalgic to look at and it is easy to believe that this piece has been worn and loved through generations.
Most of our Flat Head Horsehide Classic Collar Rider's Jackets sell out before delivery. However, this time we have managed to catch up and get a few extra jackets in store and currently have size 40 (Large) and 44 (XXL) in stock.
The Flat Head recently changed its label sizing so a 40 (Large) as now labelled would have been a 42 in previous runs. Similarly, the new 44 would have been a 46. Just contact us if you need any further clarification.

One of our biggest drops of the summer comes from Pure Blue Japan and includes impressive jackets, great slim-fitting indigo shorts, myriad shirts, and a restock of the BB double-black selvedge denim and classic indigo T-shirts.
A classic Type II or Type III jacket encompasses timeless style that bridges trends and fads with absolute ease. We offer two stunning new fabrics in both these styles: an 18oz selvedge denim with indigo warp and sulphur dyed back weft and a heavyweight Sashiko fabric with indigo warp and weft. Both are brimming with texture and character from the off.

18 oz Indigo/Black Type II
Nothing says summer-casual quite like a pair of well cut shorts and PBJ run the game with these perfect examples. The adjustable drawstring waist sits in tandem with standard belt loops and the slim fit is complimented by angled slash front pockets. Available in either a sharp double indigo 12oz selvedge duck or an indigo warp/weft Sashiko.
We have also received a strong delivery of PBJ shirting. The sunbleached shirts are artfully distressed and display a gently faded tone which diffuses throughout the garment. They come in small or large check.
The signature work shirt is now available in a variety of fabrics. This great pattern works with practically any outfit and is simple to dress up or down. Slim but not overly so, one patch and one button breast pocket, and finished with a subtle ‘chin strap’ top button.
The newest iterations now include an 8oz neppy selvedge denim with indigo warp and white weft or black warp/grey weft and an eminently breathable, low tension, 100% cotton gauze weave perfect for hotter days. These come in a 6.5oz indigo or ultra light 4.5oz in white.
The Military Thermal long sleeve T-shirt comes in a 100% cotton honeycomb weave that traps air between the yarns making an ideal underlayer in chillier climes or a standalone piece. The cut is thoroughly unique with articulated raglan sleeves and a split rear yoke which combine to give a flattering silhouette.
We also have a restock of indigo Dyed T-shirts in both short and long sleeve and of the sulphur dyed 14oz double-black XX-BB denim in the ‘013’ Slim Tapered and ‘019’ Relaxed Tapered cuts.

On a gloomy winter’s day at the start of the year 3sixteen cheered us up with a preview of a new natural selvedge denim to be launched this summer in both Type III Trucker Jackets and Chinos.
The denim, custom woven in Japan, has plenty of texture, is sanforized and comes in a perfect 12 oz weight. These garments look great in combination but can be easily matched with other items from your wardrobe.
The Type III has been slightly altered compared to previous Trucker Jackets to allow for a wider arm opening, making the sleeves less tight from armpit to elbow.

In 2009 husband and wife Peter and Gitta Plotnicki uncovered a beautiful old garment in a German flea market and their curiosity was immediately piqued. The label still attached to this vintage Henley-style undershirt clearly read “Merz b. Schwanen”. After some research the two designers discovered this to be a brand from the Swabian Alps dating back to the early 20th century that specialised in German-made tubular knit garments.
Only several years before had this unique business finally succumbed to the pressures of globalisation after a long period of diminishing orders. Determined to look deeper into this fascinating compass of domestic textile history, Peter and Gitta uncovered what can only be described as a museum of circular knitting machines dating from the 1920s to the 1960s. Coated in dust, they had remained unused for decades. Undaunted by the task of getting these vintage looms restored, and with a steadfast sense of purpose Merz B, as the brand is now affectionally known, launched its first collection under the Plotnickis in 2011 with a clear vision of reviving traditionally made knitwear for the modern day.
T-shirts, sweatshirts, pants, underwear, socks and accessories - this brand literally has you covered. Everything is manufactured in a sustainable way using animal-friendly materials with experience and heart in equal measure.
We are really happy to launch Merz b. Schwanen at Rivet & Hide and kick this off with the FW19 collection.

3sixteen has released its ever-popular Type 3 trucker jacket in an 8 oz water-repellent waxed canvas. It comes in a rich Field Tan colour and features the zig-zag stitching below the collar synonymous with this style, gunmetal shanks and hand-warmer pockets lined with 9 oz heavy twill pocket bags.

Our Moonstar AW19 collection has arrived. This is the brand from Japan whose speciality is the “ka-ryu” or vulcanizing process. Each shoe is fired in a kiln at 120 °C (248 °F) for 70 minutes which causes the sulphur mixed inside the raw rubber to react chemically, returning the rubber to its natural elasticity and creating a soft, flexible and durable sole. This results in a very comfortable and hard-wearing hand-made shoe.
This season, we have introduced a new style slip-on boot, the All-Weather, in khaki. The Bumper Court shoe in beige features a suede rather than canvas upper, and the popular All-Weather (lace up) is now available in a two-tone black.

Anyone who appreciates beautifully textured denim loves Pure Blue Japan. The latest collection really delivers one incredible indigo fix.
The 18 oz denim with deep indigo warp and a sulphur died black weft is now available in both the ‘13’ Slim Tapered cut and the ‘19’ Relaxed Tapered. The denim is full of texture with the potential for some striking, high contrast fading as the threads wear.

The NP-019 introduces another new fabric to the repertoire in a classic Relaxed Tapered blue denim. 17.5 oz, super crunchy fabric featuring plenty of nep. A ‘neppy’ denim demonstrates visible, protruding cotton fibres which along with adding character also allow for both horizontal and vertical fading.
The same ‘19’ cut is also now here in a rich double indigo whereby both warp and weft are rope dyed and supersaturated for a true depth of tone. The jackets in this fabric were so popular we don't expect these jeans to hang around for long.
XX-18oz-019 Double Indigo Relaxed Tapered
Showcasing just how versatile sashiko can be are the 1153 and the 1154. Heavyweight and with indigo dyed warp and weft the Sashiko ‘stabbing stitch’ creates a truly unique material that is clearly something special whilst being suitable for any casual wear.
The 1153 are chino styled with a relaxed top block and a taper to the hem to smarten the silhouette. The 1154 are cut in a slim taper to the pattern of PBJ’s traditional 5 pocket jeans.

1153 Relaxed Tapered
This impressive drop from PBJ is topped off with the slubby yarned, raglan sleeve T. 50’s Americana sweatshirt styled with a panelled chest V and armpit vents. It's a great fitting T shirt to boot.

We could think of no better way to mark our recent 7th anniversary and the opening this year of our second store in Manchester than with a collaboration blanket from Indigofera. These blankets have been a constant presence in the Rivet & Hide story from the beginning.
“Liberty” is designed by Jelle Soos, a gifted tattoo artist with 15 years experience. Based in London but originally from the Netherlands, his style is western traditional with strong influences from late 19th century tattoo art and early 20th century folk art and architecture. Nature is always a forceful presence in his work.
These 100% Norwegian wool blankets are amazing as wall hangings, bed throws, at the beach, in the woods or just on the sofa as the evening draws in.This collaboration is being released in limited numbers. They are now available for pre-order. This will guarantee you don't miss out and we'll be shipping the blankets out late October.
Austin is the most slick iteration of an Indigofera suede shirt and has been released in navy nubuck.
Utilising a front and back yoke and panelled construction throughout, this beautifully soft nubuck drapes perfectly for a flattering, strong fit. A straight hem proudly states its overshirt heritage and details abound such as riveted sleeve and hem gussets, lining to the collar, placket and cuffs along with heavy duty snaps. Perfect.
