      @gaseousclay:

      I like bleak films, the reason being that I dislike films that try to sugarcoat everything and pretend everything in life is peachy. I just like a good story when it's all said and done, whether it's a superhero film or a film about the apocalypse. I know a guy that refuses to watch The Wire tv show because he's not interested in the gang violence. I tried explaining the premise of the show and that it's not all black and white and that the show offers perspective. He'll watch The Walking Dead with its extreme violence but he won't watch The Wire. Go figure  ???

      try “I was never really here.” About as bleak as it gets…save for maybe “The Road” which ismambleak love story.

                Took my son to watch Shazam. It was fun - 8/10 maybe? After the various Marvel movies it feels a bit like a movie school project: a lot more character development, a lot less wizz-bang. DC created an interesting character.

                  We watched 'prisoners' with Jake Gyllenhaal and Hugh Jackman. Really liked it, and never heard of it before (released in 2014). Good small-town America thriller…one of those films were it is mostly nightime and raining. Perfect.

                    Surprisingly decent, despite the first half of the film being dreadfully slow. But, I like shlocky b-movie films and this one hits all the notes.

                        This is an excellent movie and was my introduction to the director, Denis Villeneuve, whose done quite well for himself since.

                              @gaseousclay there was a rumour that Spielberg wanted to get Gene Wilder to play Halliday, but it sounds like that was speculation.

                                Interesting. Halliday's hair even looked like Gene Wilder's. Gene Wilder was also my favorite comedian of all time.

                                        i can't speak for others. but personally, iron man was the character that i feel most connected to. he was also the one that started the whole MCU saga. RDJ was literally made for that role that i dare say, tony stark is RDJ rather than the other way around.

                                        mind you i'm not a big follower of the comics. so following this lead me to dabbling in reading up some of the marvel universe and other characters. what endgame means to some of us and me personally, is the closure we've been waiting so long for. without spilling any spoilers to the movie, it has come a full circle in regards to a certain character that i'm so deeply obsessed with.

                                          I haven't seen Endgame yet but I think you've summed it up nicely. For me, it's about the journey of each character. As moviegoers we've become invested in the them, just as with any show. I grew up reading a lot of Marvel comics so can relate to the films in different ways. Comics were an escape for me as a teenager, so the films imho are an obvious extension of that.
