We watched 'prisoners' with Jake Gyllenhaal and Hugh Jackman. Really liked it, and never heard of it before (released in 2014). Good small-town America thriller…one of those films were it is mostly nightime and raining. Perfect.

Mandy: 7/10
Surprisingly decent, despite the first half of the film being dreadfully slow. But, I like shlocky b-movie films and this one hits all the notes.

Off to see Endgame at 230!!!
I really want to see this, sadly, my boy would rather watch Detective Pikachu

This is an excellent movie and was my introduction to the director, Denis Villeneuve, whose done quite well for himself since.

@gaseousclay there was a rumour that Spielberg wanted to get Gene Wilder to play Halliday, but it sounds like that was speculation.

Interesting. Halliday's hair even looked like Gene Wilder's. Gene Wilder was also my favorite comedian of all time.

I was very disappointed with Endgame

Bravely said. I won’t bother going at all because I’m not a fan of the ouvre.

i can't speak for others. but personally, iron man was the character that i feel most connected to. he was also the one that started the whole MCU saga. RDJ was literally made for that role that i dare say, tony stark is RDJ rather than the other way around.
mind you i'm not a big follower of the comics. so following this lead me to dabbling in reading up some of the marvel universe and other characters. what endgame means to some of us and me personally, is the closure we've been waiting so long for. without spilling any spoilers to the movie, it has come a full circle in regards to a certain character that i'm so deeply obsessed with.
"part of the journey is the end"

I haven't seen Endgame yet but I think you've summed it up nicely. For me, it's about the journey of each character. As moviegoers we've become invested in the them, just as with any show. I grew up reading a lot of Marvel comics so can relate to the films in different ways. Comics were an escape for me as a teenager, so the films imho are an obvious extension of that.

for you wondering about the decision and the direction of endgame, here's a really good interview by the NY times with the scriptwriters.
beware, SPOILERS AHEAD.

Anyone else pumped for the new John Wick? Just reserved seats for the premiere and can’t wait.
Folks were debating the merits of grim movies a while ago and on this vein, I’d like to suggest Zahler’s latest, ”Dragged Across Concrete”, for friends of the genre… All 3 of his movies are an odd combination of awkwardness and holy sh*t -moments and they definitely stand out among the more standard fare.
