A little all over the place this morning…
Mono's new record is my favorite by them in quite a while...I love Mono, although, I haven't heard their last 3 or 4 albums. I saw them live back in 2007 or thereabouts. The last album I picked up of theirs was the Under The Pipal Tree reissue on green vinyl. An absolutely classic

The Dead are my absolute all-time favorite, @Filthy Love a good China > Rider
There's a group of friends who kind of randomly formed a tribute band (Joe Russo's Almost Dead–it was originally supposed to be a one-night thing and they've played well over 100 shows since) that's dynamite. I think they're the best live Dead thing going, including Dead & Co. (or "Dead & Slow"), and I don't say that lightly, as someone who reveres the original members. You might recognize their bassist, Dave Dreiwitz of Ween. They also mix in occasional Neil Young, Radiohead (the drummer's favorite band) and other music, and have at least one original tune.
Here's an example China > Rider from Joe Russo's Almost Dead. This one has John Mayer sitting in because I couldn't find one with good video and audio quality with just the band:

Cool thanks. I will check it out in a few.

I think maybe I like the Buddy Miles version better. But this is for you @Aetas
-
I think this is the OG version..

I looked it up and Neil Young's version is the original. My mistake. …used to white guys ripping off old black musicians, I guess.

Something a little different for this thread. It used to be a very common thing for drummers to battle. This one between Ed Shaughnesey and Buddy Rich is one of my favorites,as they were both hitting on all cylinders. At one point Ed looks like he thinks he’s winning at which point Buddy shifts into another gear doing cross sticking and one handed rolls. Enjoy!

Really enjoyed that @Jett129 thanks for sharing…
Was reminded last night of how much I like Japanese noisy punks Otoboke Beaver when I found out they have a new album coming out soon...
They are playing a few shows in the UK with label mates Say Sue Me out of South Korea who play some super chilled out surf rock...
Also digging on Jessie Ware's new dreamy single this morning...
and the new Our Native Doughters album. Really stunning and important folk/americana...

I once got a speeding ticket in Oklahoma listening to this song after work. I was doing 84 in a 45 on a back country road. The cop was chasing me for several miles and I didn't realize he was chasing me until he pulled up along side me. He was going to take me to jail. But I explained that I didn't realize I was even speeding because I was singing along to the song. He had a gun drawn on me and everything. The result was a $340 fine. The cop was laughing and smiling by the time out interaction was over.

Buddy Rich was ridiculous. Completely self-taught and was a child prodigy. I got to see him play a shopping mall in my home town and it was unforgettable.
http://drummerworld.com/ has a lot of excellent drumming clips. Tons of Buddy Rich.
And here is a famous collaboration between Vinnie Colaiuta, Steve Gadd, and Dave Weckl.

Saw Buddy many times when I was growing up.At 3 he was called the Prince of the Traps. One of my favorite clips was when he was on the Jerry Lewis show. It’s pretty funny. Also liked when he battled Animal on Sesame St. He was a notorious prick, hence the famous Buddy’s dead joke. The Buddy Rich bus tape on YouTube will blow your mind. Big fan of the Drummersworld video archive, and will check out the ones you recommended. Thanks.
