Are there any other Porsche then 911?

In the United States, it seems like the only vehicles Porsche makes are the Cayenne and the occasional Macan.

We really don't deserve nice things.

My dad had a 997 911 - total POS. It was so bad my mom wouldn’t even look at the Macan S when she was looking for a zippy crossover.

However, my grandfather left the family his 964 Cab4 when he passed and that is a dream.

          Exactly.

Those are my principles, and if you don't like them…

On most days of the year the Porsche SUVs are the predominant models on german streets too, the historic 911s that arent conserved in some underground parking lot are mostly coming out on a sunny summer sunday three times a year  😃

Looks like I had my models reversed. According to Porsche's own sales figures, the Macan was nearly 42% of US sales. Add in the Cayenne, and the total rises to almost 60%. That's a lot more than just middle aged Texas women.

Besides, around here, the vehicle of choice for that socioeconomic bracket is either a Tahoe or an Escalade. Which is worse, I readily admit.

I'm going to strongly disagree with you there @Chris.  I prefer more understated colors, I like the design language of the car to speak for itself.  Case in point:

Light trucks were 70% of US auto sales last year. Ford announced that it's going to stop making cars for the domestic market, and GM is cutting nearly as much of its car production. Fiat Chrysler started moving away from cars a couple of years ago and said it was because of a permanent shift in the market.

So yeah, it's normal here. Not good IMO, but normal.

In my town, if you are mom, you drive a Yukon/Tahoe or suburban/Yukon XL. We bought a ours out of necessity since we’re tired of stuffing two car seats, two dogs, all our stuff, and two adults in our Armadas and Pathfinders for 12 hour trips to Dallas.

I’ve tried to get my wife to look at Land Cruisers, LX570, Audi Q7, or X5s, but her response is “those things are tiny, no thanks.”

For what it’s worth, the Yukon is a horrendous car. It’s been in the shop getting things fixed at least every 45-60 days and my 20 year old 200k mile Land Cruiser hasn’t even had an oil change in 12 months…

When they first came out, I looked down my nose at them, but in time I cam to realize that there's no shame in buying a Cayenne. They're great vehicles. The SUV war is over, and SUVs (and now the latest incarnation, crossovers) won, for better or worse.

It's no different than buying a nice Mercedes, BMW, or Audi SUV, or even, pedigree aside, a Range Rover. And likely much more reliable. Sometimes people want luxury, performance, and a lot of room. More power to them.

                                        Think it, be it.

why not just the GLE. the GLC is a tad small.. similar to an x3 rather than an x5..

i think that if those "light trucks" were sold and made here in AU and in RHD without the need for conversion. they'd sell like hotcakes. the conventional SUV was made as a people carrier rather than a hauler. consider this, a 3 row SUV would not have enough space for everyone's luggage but a suburban or escalade would..

i recently came across a 1998 suburban in Perth on QLD plates. not sure if they were road tripping. but i admire them for the amount of space with or without the third row.. a used 2011 escalade would cost somewhere about AUD$100,000 for about 94,000kms on the clock..
