I was thinking more about the weight of the line. Do you bait hooks or is the appearance and movement of the lure enough to get the fish going?

No bait, the appearance of the lure and the way it is retrieved is what does the business.  On that set up, I have 60lb braid mainline with a 130lb nylon leader.

Yeah, that sounds just fine 

Not much in the way of fine sashimi here in the middle of the North American continent, but I did go on a salmon fishing charter out in Lake Michigan a few years back.  When we got back to shore and the skipper was slicing and dicing, I asked him to cut a chunk off for me to chow down on.  Now that was some fine eatin'!

It was something else wasn’t it. Saltstraumen delivered for sure. And to think I was worried you’d be going home without a bite only five minutes before it kicked off [emoji1]

On another note, am I to understand that you stood in your own garden fly fishing for that tench today?!

Yes, but when i say I caught it on a fly, i mean I had a fly (a freshwater shrimp pattern) tied to the end of the line, which I presented on a tiny spinning rod.  It was like how I fished for Minnows as a child, but with an artificial as bait.
