I don't generally prefer small dogs or dogs with genetically mutilated faces, but Frenchies are pretty good dogs despite those characteristics if Jody insists upon one.

I was missing my dog as I travel, so the wife sent me this picture of him. (Yes, I miss her too 😃 )

    Think it, be it.

I've always been partial to the name Thulsa Doom.  Though for a French bulldog, Napoleon might work.

        @DougNg:

I told my wife I would get her a French Bulldog on two conditions:
        1. If she got a job that didn't require her to travel 20+ weeks out of the year (three dogs is a pain to handle alone)2. I get to name the dog
Jody is interviewing for a job that requires nominal travel soon, so the possible names are
John WickNerf Ball Destroyer of Worlds
        Jody should have known better.

Have the name of a great breeder if you’re Interested

        Maybe so. Maybe not

Any breed that a) cannot get pregnant without human intervention b) cannot give birth without a c section and c) cannot swim because their heads are too heavy I don't care for. They just conflict with my pragmatic side.

I love Rottweilers. I mean, I LOVE ROTTWEILERS. Theres something about their history, personality, and physical appearance that connects with me on a fundamental level.

But what the wife wants the wife gets…plus we already have two Rotties.

Matty, I may hit you up when we're ready. We may also take a look at our local rescues. I do believe there is one local to me that has a pretty high rate of adoption because of animals seized from puppy mills up in PA. Thank you.

Mclain, Jody gets daily photos from me of Hex when she's away, and Jody has me on speakerphone when I'm away for work. Lia is a daddy's girl and gets depressed (she will actually skip meals) so that helps. When we're both away our pet sitter sends pictures twice a day.

@DougNg the Brewster is in PA but it’s not a puppy mill at all. She shows dogs and breeds for the betterment of the breed. Let me know

The French bulldog I got from her is the sweetest dog I’ve ever met. I’ve had dogs all 41 years of my life and he’s the one I’ve been waiting for. He’s a gem

I grew up with Rottweilers. I have two of them. One was a sweetheart and one was huge and not nice. To
Anybody but my family. But they are great dogs. The mean one was gorgeous but scary.

Frenchies do have some of the best personalities.

Hex is a social butterfly and insists everyone pets him. Lia is kind of a little princess, I'm the center of her universe and she puts up with Jody. Everyone else is an annoyance. I love her to death.

I do appreciate ethical breeders (we will most likely continue to get Rots from breeders). I would hate to see the breed be diluted into history with time.

Good breeds should be preserved. I feel the same way about rotties and bouviers. Wouldn't it be a shame to lose some of these great breeds to history?

That said, one of my good canine buddies is a beautiful cross between rottie and Australian Shepherd.

Condolences to Rufus and his family, what a sweet boy.

I wouldn't call the relationship adversarial yet, but Otis is interested in squirrels and particularly rabbits. This morbidly obese squirrel simply chittered nervously where his more agile comrades seem to actually talk trash.

Some days, Otis follows momma around. Today, happy to report he's attached at my hip. His sister Bess (also a bouvier, 6 months his junior) arrives tonight or tomorrow.

We got another bouvier des Flandres Sunday. Her name is Bess. She's under 10lbs now at 10 weeks. Based on how large her paws are, she may wind up larger than her big brother Otis, who's about 6 months her senior. She is very sassy and fearless–she jumped off our high bed (something Otis took weeks to do), for example, and tirelessly attacks Otis right back when he plays with her. We will have to keep an eye on her until she's a bit larger!

To his credit, Otis is proving to be a great big brother. They are blood kin, and when we introduced her to him, he smelled her inquisitively for a long time. He may sense their kinship or her puppyhood, because he treats her differently than any other dog we've seen him with. He is gentle with her and they genuinely have affection for one another, and he doesn't exhibit the same kind of jealousy he does when other dogs get attention.

Where Otis' brindle coat becomes more obvious over time, we believe she will remain black save for the spot on her chest, and that both dogs may exceed 100 lbs.

                                Think it, be it.

Bess appropriated a throw pillows as her bed when we first welcomed her home. This morning, she dragged it into the kitchen from the living room so she could hang out with me as I prepared lunch. She seems to be as clever as she is precocious. It only took her two treats to learn how to sit on command.
