Unpopular opinions

Sports fandom is a collosal waste of human energy and capital, and a pointless drain on resources that could better be focused on much more important things.
George Orwell wrote the same sentiment almost 70 years ago in «1984». He was basically reformulating Marx’s idea regarding religion being the opium of the people, but specified football.

Not much of a leap given the fervor and us v them mentalities inculcated by sports. And yes, sports can also bring people together, but generally together against some other. In fact people often draw the comparison if not downright stating that sports is a, or their, religion.
I'm slowly letting go based not on trying to, but having other pursuits that are more meaningful to me. I will always cherish having witnessed some wonderful sports moments, but it feels good to focus on other things that I've realized are much more meaningful to me.

And we can dig deeper.
Stadium sport is 'panem et circenses'.
That's based on Juvenalis, a Roman satirist. -
@Megatron1505 is going to hate what we’re doing to this thread [emoji23]

Getting pretty highbrow and pretentious up in here with the philosophy and literary references…

As a Geordie, perhaps it'd be better for his mental health to come around to this post-sport mentality.

It’s ok buddy… I can get us back on track:
Just unfollowed Viberg on IG, because their boots/slippers/shoes/sneakers are naff.

Viberg is DEAD
Unpop…..I bought two tees and a jacket from Supreme....and i’m not even a little embarrassed. Box logo baby
-
I do disagree with the slippers, sneakers, wholecuts, flat welts, and some of the outsole choices. But they still make sexy service boots when they stick to what they do best.

I quite like the Viberg Slippers. Not so keen on the Service Boots, and dislike the 2030 last.

despite the worlds current state with hypebeasts and all that stuff, Supreme has a super rich history and is a groundbreaking brand.
Folks of a certain age respect Supreme for different reasons then folks born in the 90s and 00. Oh it also might depend on where you lived during formative years with Supreme and a few other older "street wear" brands because so much of it was grass roots and connected with customers in a different kind of way
in another 20 or so years folks will be talking about Iron Heart the same way as far as the way the brand connected with customers in an entirely different way then was the norm and dope product.
