So I found a Nomin V1 new for 20% off. From everything I’ve read, it is the version to get. Here are some quick and dirty fit pics. I’ll take a few more in depth pics later and compare it to my V2 Seque tote.

I've heard that the V1 fabric is the best. I like the side handle as well. How do you like the internal organization?

@veloaudio I can tell you right off the bat, the fabric is thicker and heavier than that of my tote. It is smooth but very substantial. The organization should work well for me. I usually carry my work CEUs and a kindle so the laptop sleeve is pretty functional albeit probably overkill. I like that it is removable for when I need more space for travel, hiking, etc. Apparently it isnt removable in the V2 Nomin and takes up a LOT of space.

The flip out pocket in the top compartment is awesome and is super well designed. It is just a cool feature that kind of makes part of the bag work. It is easy to access when the bag is in briefcase mode.

I might miss a sternum strap but if the straps are as well designed as people, say it shouldn’t be necessary anyway.

Nice!! V1 supposedly is better in terms of the internal layout as well. I was very close on some Grailed listings for it. Looks great.

Good info and pictures. Where did you find it for 20% off? East Dane?

I have read that article and honestly, it made me take a deeper look at the V1.
East Dane had the bag on sale, but their 15% off didnt apply to Veilance in general🤨 Still I think I got a deal at least in Nomin terms.

Fabric (left is Seque, right is Nomin)

                  Webbing
The webbing of the Seque is thinner and a bit lighter weight. It isnt uncomfortable in the hand but can dig into your shoulder with a loaded bag.

                  Zips
The Nomin zip is much larger and a little easier to operate because of the thicker fabric

Both of the Veilance bags look good @Anesthetist, and I hope that you're not in too much trouble with the missus! 😶

My thisispaper backpack is having one of the seams blow out. There's a zip down one side of the backpack to a get a laptop in and out, and the slit is sewn with the material butted together for about an inch or so at the bottom of the bag. It's starting to pull apart here.

It can probably be fixed, but it might need surgery to get in. Will have to get it looked at. 😞

I recently got the "Carry-On" from Ortlieb, the Duffle RG 34 Liter, as usual with Ortlieb 5 Year Warentee and Made in Germany. The Wheels and the Handle are Rock Solid and mostly made of Aluminium. The Main Zipper is a TIZIP which make the Bag Waterproof.

The Backpack is 4 Years old and I dont had any problems to date, it is the Velocity Model.

Both Bags are Empty Inside, I use the Muji packing Cubes for Organisation.

What I like about it is the possibility of moving to one bag. If the detatchable bag works as a business laptop bag for me then one of these would be close to the perfect all in one travel bag.

If they could mix in a garment bag it would be.

Is this the First Time you´ll use it as a Carry-On ? I always wonders how the Airlines react to it because of the quite bulky Metal Base.

Btw if someones cares: The Shoulder Straps work quite well if you dont have Back Problems and if youre quite strong, 34 Liter is quite heavy and the Center of Gravity is way back because of the Carrying System. I think they are more for unforeseen bad road Conditions then for real carrying.

I've always liked the look of the Finisterre waterproof duffle bag, which is made by Ortlieb. It's got backpack straps, so can be worn in a couple of ways. Carryology had a behind the design feature, which is worth a read if you're interested in the bag.

@mclaincausey the only backpack that I know of with a suit carrier is the Henty Wingman.

Do you need a 55 litre bag? I tend to find that what I carry in my luggage expands to fill the available space, but if I'm being ruthless, I can travel for a week on something half that size.

They make a similar one to that suit carrier that is a tube with shoe storage in one end, then a garment bag wraps around the outside, but it's not a backpack. And also similar to that one, not spacious enough to really be an all in one for 3-5 day trips.

55L includes the 15L detachable backpack–given gym outfit, a few days of clothing, 2 or 3 pair of shoes, electronic and business gear, etc, I do believe I could fill that, though it is certainly a lot of volume.

Ah, you're not as much of a minimalist when it comes to travel as I am. 🙂

You're in Denver? Topo Designs, who're based there, offer the Travel Bag, which is a 40 litre, carry-on bag. Some of their other designs can be clipped onto it.

I actually prefer the older style, which was made in the US rather than Vietnam. Havn have a few left.

The Slicks 25 backpack is available with a suit carrier.

Topo is being made in Vietnam now? That makes me pretty sad. Being made in the US made them much more attractive to me.

This might turn into a Random Rant for me. I saw a woman arrive late and take someone else’s bag out of the overhead bin to put her oversized roller in. She left the other bag in the aisle and played dumb as to who’s bag it was. Luckily, a stewardess called her out and embarrassed her in front of the entire plane.
