Too true. I reckon my ex-wife and I have spent over $50k on daycare in the last 5 yrs. All of that is coming to an end for me in 2 months.

Apologies in advance for the length of this story, but I had a very odd day yesterday and feel the need to share.

On may way to the dentist, which is a block from my house, my fiance calls me crying about a busted water main that is buckling the street in front of our house. (Our neighborhood has been saddled with a number of long-running infrastructure projects that result in stacks of culverts, heavy equipment and closed roads burdening houses for weeks, and she pictured that ruining our home-hosted wedding party.)

I park at the dentist and walk home to check on her and figure out what's going on. On my way up the street, I walk past a river of water that becomes a trickle by the time I'm at our house and confer with the fellas working on the crater in the street. I'm told the main and street will be fixed in no more than 8 hours. I console Brandi and explain this to her, then head to the dentist.

Literally a block from my house, some asshole runs a stop sign and nearly runs me over in a crosswalk. I flip him off and he screeches to a halt in the middle of the street. Big fella gets out and starts screaming at me, car running, door open, middle of the street. He reaches for my neck with both hands and I put him on the ground and hold him there, asking if he is ok (really didn't want to hurt him and I had put him down hard and knocked the breath from him). I let him up and walk towards the dentist. He keeps jawing at me and I tell him to eat a dick. That sets him off again and he follows me, threatening to kill me. I ignore him and walk into the dentist for my first appointment with them. They lock the door behind me and ask if I want to call the cops. I demure and say I was simply trying to make a memorable first impression. Almost the whole building heard or saw the exchange and they were all very kind and supportive.

I was able to handle it this time, but the lesson I took away was a reminder that road rage is real and it is best not to provoke people even if they fuck up. Self-driving cars can't come soon enough.

                          Think it, be it.

Hehe no cavities, but apparently I am slowly grinding my teeth down to stumps.

As for the angry driver, he'd have killed me in that moment of anger had he been able. My thinking is, what if he'd had a gun? He'd have certainly used it. Or, what if he'd been a more capable fighter and gotten his hands around my neck?

I take no joy in being a grown man in a physical altercation and will try to manage my own anger better. I'm glad that the lesson was harmless.

I fell foul of the second point a few days ago and reacted with consequences. Managed to make amends and all is good now [emoji106]

Surprised you didn't call the PD and file assault charges. A few days in the slammer with the potential for this guy to have a permanent criminal record usually sets them straight. Usually.
