      @Joule here's a repair I did.

      https://www.ironheart.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=833.msg416667#msg416667

      If you look at the subsequent messages below I explain how to do it.

          I just noticed a loose thread on my Ihj-17. What's the best way to stop the unraveling? I am considering a drop of crazy glue on the corner of the diamond and just cutting the thread as its not visible when the collar is down. Or should I just take it to the tailor or try to stitch myself?
          Thanks

            I like the crazy glue idea. Would probably work and with care shouldn’t be too obvious.  You might consider PM’ing the crew for pro tips as they don’t see everything here.

              My very old, battered IHSW-23 ripped at the collar as a result of the wear and tear caused by years of forcing my shiny dome through it. I took it to my seamstress with the offcuts from my IH-634S-21BLK and had her do a job (and sew a patch on at the same time. She just sent me a picture of the results. I’m looking forward to picking it up tomorrow.

              EDIT: Just need to pimp it a little more: https://www.ironheart.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=11522.msg554202;topicseen#msg554202

                Took my pair of MF “speedways” to my tailor. The pants had snaps on the side instead of belt loops. I thought I would give them a try because the denim looked nice. I couldn’t live without a belt. Had the tailor hem them and add loops with the cut material. I think they turned out great.

                        ^ good job. I like the way that wearing this gear encourages us to make repairs ourselves and learn the skills to do so.

                        I’ve always been able to do rudimentary sewing since I was a teenager and sewed band patches on denim. Later I started fixing my favourite items of clothing. Now I’m looking at the most effective methods of fixing crotch blowouts and even concerning myself with stitch count and aesthetics (although my work is still fugly [emoji1]).

                          Speaking of ugly repairs, I also "repaired" this item. I wasnt planning on posting this one but what the hell… I cut this brand new item while unpacking it... Doh!

                          Gift for my father. Already lovingly repaired, and full of character I guess.

                            On another note, the amount of furniture I’ve marked unpacking with scissors and knives is ridiculous [emoji23]

                              Yup. The more I think about it the more I think it needs more work.

                              Im gonna sew around the tear so it dont fray. Then once more around the edge of the patch.

                                    So several months back when I dyed my IH-2526J brown, I also attempted to dye an IHSH-58 hunter green… It turned out an ugly "baby shit" color, and splotchy.

                                    Today, I'm giving it a go to dye it black. Results coming tomorrow.

                                      I had a similar problem when I dyed a shirt red.  A second attempt made for some interesting color variations and looked a lot better overall.  Be interesting to see how this works out.
