Anyone else love a good western? I whole heartedly recommend Hostiles. Quite brutal in parts and I loved it.

Shoot out in the diner, Cramps on the jukebox. One of the best movie set pieces ever!

Oh yes. It’s a seriously accomplished bit of indie cinema. Genre story, respectful of the tropes, but refreshingly different and she somehow manages to combine the romance, violence, action and cool all at the same time. Throw in Lance Henriksen and the dear departed Bill Paxton and you’re on to a winner.

Pale Rider is one of my all time favourite movies.

I watched Point Break dozens of times as a kid but haven't seen it again as an adult yet in it's entirety.  I'll have to check it out again….for some reason the thing that sticks out to me the most in that movie is Anthony Kiedis' lol

Yes!  totally forgot he shoots himself in the foot.  And so there it is, the entirety of Anthony Keidis' acting career.

Tried watching Brawl in Cell Block 99 the other day and couldn't finish it. It's the same guy who directed Bone Tomahawk and stars Vince Vaughn and Don Johnson. It's done in Grindhouse style with cheesy fight choreography and synth music but at over 2 hrs long I had a hard time making it halfway through. Maybe i'll come back to it another time.

I never saw the Tim Curry version or read the book but I was pleasantly surprised by the reboot. Bill Skarsgard's It was well done and super creepy.

Overall I thought it was decent. Without getting too spoilery the story puts more emphasis on Elastigirl (not a bad thing cuz she's pretty badass). With that said, it's over 2 hrs long and halfway through my son started to lose interest, probably because Mr. Incredible wasn't smashing stuff left and right throughout the movie. I was more impressed with the new reclining seats  😃

I saw The Incredibles 2 today, and liked it. Though I agree with @gaseousclay 's son that more Mr Incredible smashing stuff would have been good.

I also caught Upgrade yesterday. It's an Australian film, shot here in Melbourne, though set in an unnamed US city, about a guy whose wife is killed and gets put in a wheelchair when his self-driving car goes to the wrong place. However, he gets fixed up and becomes a fecking ninja. Revenge ensues.

There's a (slightly spoilery) trailer here.

I enjoyed the film. There are some clichés in it, but I did like the hacker character, and I'm glad to see the AI runs on UNIX. 😛

Finally saw Black Panther the other night. It was ok but not as great as the reviews made it out to be. I don't know if it was because it was its own stand alone film or not but it didn't blow me away. I think this is one i'll have to revisit again to see if it grows on me.

We watched 'you were never really here' tonight, Joaquin Pheonix's latest. Really enjoyed it. Very dark and brutal. Yep, my cup of tea. I'd recommend it to anyone who doesn't mind a challenging watch.

Kinda meh. I like mindless cgi drivel every now and again but this was just average. Scott Eastwood bored me to tears and seemed like he was trying to channel some of his dad's acting chops, but missed the mark. You know a movie isn't going to be great when you start looking at your cell phone 5 minutes into it.
