Nice!! You guys going Santa Fe style modern?
That's probably the closest description we could apply. It's a modified version of a house that the builder did out in Midland, so I think we've probably bastardized it out of any clear categorization or whatever the original design might have been.
SA? looks dry considering the monsoon that occured today. in my neck of the woods.
Busted.
The picture was from Friday, before the rains swept through.
Oh, and the house looks great, Dan. Congrats again.

I think that will fit in very well with the climate and surroundings, @Chris
It always seemed weird to me that all the builders in H-town throw up Craftsman and Colonial houses with zero history of the design ever being there…. and don’t get me started on the “we are going to use 7 different varieties of stone and mixed veneer on the facade of the home” style stuff they are building in the mega communities...

Oh, now you've touched on one of my biggest housing peeves. Our street in Houston had post war ranch, Mediterranean, Tudor, craftsman, colonial, 5,000 square foot 2 story Cape Cod "cottages", Miami Vice drug kingpin, you name it. I always complained about how there was no thought given to what was historically, geographically, or culturally appropriate. San Antonio has a more distinct style, so we didn't want to stray too far afield. Hopefully, this will work out as intended.
And builders that combine brick, vinyl siding, stucco, and manufactured "stone" in a single house need to be punched. Repeatedly.

Sadly there is often not much more thought in a new house's Architecture over here either!
I moved a while back, need to take a few decent shots.

Lol I’ve always loved that post.
Overall I like the Mediterranean style homes, but yes, they do take things a bit over the top down in Htown

One of my big housing pet peeves (besides vomiting up different textures and materials) is ridiculous roof lines. This prime example is being built in Austin right now:
I don't care how well your roof is flashed, this thing is going to leak like a sieve one day.
That's fucking atrocious.
Any idea about the purpose of the toggle switch next to the garage? Lugeing? -
Wow, that is just terrible. It looks like it was built from leftovers.
