Watching S.2 of Westworld and The Handmaid’s Tale in tandem. Westworld is brutal, grim and existentially depressing, The Handmaid’s Tale is all these things just more so. Good times.
@neph93 they both sound right up my alley. We are halfway through season 1 of The Americans. I'm enjoy the dark humour and quite brutal set pieces…what drew me to this show, a YouTube video of the 'necklacing' scene. I do enjoy grim

Westworld also has lots of clever references and self referential jokes which lightens things. The body count is astonishing. More slaughtered hosts than head shotted zombies in The Walking Dead (which I incidentally don’t rate).
Handmaids Tale has none of that and while the first season was great and really quite scary, the second so far, is unremittingly terrifying.
I really like The Americans. Working on S.5 now.

ASH VS EVIL DEAD is still good… On ep 3x06 and enjoying it...
THE EXPANSE is getting more epic by the ep... Sad that ATLANTA's over... Couch scene of last ep was too good... Darius is one funny fucker...
WESTWORLD is kicking ass...
Gonna start watching THE HANDMAIDS TALE S01 asap... It's apparently bleak and disturbing - excellent...
BOBBY KENNEDY FOR PRESIDENT is also on the list... But SEINFELD keeps interfering...
GOMORRA S03 was unbelievably good, finish to start...
If anyone wants a link to a torrent for GOMORRA, PM me. It's a 85GB file containing all three seasons, with (softcoded) Eng subs… 720p... Currently freeleech (but on a private torrentsite, to which I can provide an invite if need be)...

Yeah, they definitely went sideways in the last three or so episodes. I read the other two books after watching the show, and the show runners pulled a few (minor) things from later books, which was interesting.
I actually liked the show, though. I knew going in that it wasn't going to adhere closely to the text, so I was prepared for it and accepted it. Having that base helped me to perceive the show as independent from the books and try to take it on its merits, rather than constantly comparing the two and driving myself insane over the divergences. That said, they kind of lost their focus and didn't quite manage to keep all the plot balls in the air as they were juggling everything.
It will be interesting to see how they manage a second series, if they decide to do one.

Weird, weirder, THE WOLFPACK…
