I enjoy doing these. No cooking or cleaning dishes or meal planning for 5 days. Fantastic. And I feel like a

Brisk walk in the 36F, crystal blue sky, sunny day! Started the walk with my hands tucked in the N-1 ended with it slung over my shoulder!  That is the Ballard neighbourhood of Seattle with the Olympic mountain range in the distance…

A typical snow pack for this time of year.

Awesome, Goose!  I love this area too–super quiet and chill, but way close to epic beer, coffee and food (let alone salt water, Green Lake, BlueOwl and <15mins to downtown/Division Road!).  Never seen this dead end view point on Phinney Ridge before--aprox 58th and 1st NW, not far from the zoo.

Goose, the bridge troll makes an excellent mascot!  Really like funky street art vs polished statues.  You have family/friends in the area?

No family, just job prospects that didn't work out.  It was/is a dream to live there!  We spent two weeks there on separate occasions exploring the area.  We looked everywhere for housing and fell in love with Ballard, Fremont, Phinney (Green Lake).  it really let us see parts of Seattle most tourists would miss.

Although we did have to do a day at the Market!  🙂

Seattle is one fantastic city with a great vibe.

We also did a day trip to Mt. Ranier.  That was an indescribable experience that I want to come back and do again with my kids when they are old enough.

Cool man! Def off the radar of most tourists!  Housing is stupidly unaffordable, in these nooks esp.  And yes Mt Rainier is so special to hike through and camp near/on–bigger than life itself! Highway 2 further up North is astounding too--gives a great view of the jagged peaks of the Cascades (The Alps of the NW-haha) and the Skagit river, when the salmon run, get taken over by feasting bald eagles is unforgettable and a must see to believe.  I need to explore the Sound more and def want to get into a kayak this summer!

Ah, the emotions this beautiful image evokes in me. My sons are 15 and 16 now and I am trying to make up for lost time. I was working all the time when they were toddlers and have deep regrets about that.

The only emotion felt here is a deep yearning for sleep and despair at the amount of tax money that goes into Norwegian municipal libraries. I'm joking of course. I'm more than happy to fund beautiful public buildings  😃

The work/home balance is tough one for Dad's, given how the 20th century panned out. My father was at work for my entire childhood based on the argument that he was earning big bucks and could provide wonderful things for us. So we had some expensive holidays when I was a kid, a nice house when I was a teenager and by the time I'd grown up and had kids myself, access to holiday homes, a small yacht and so on. I don't have the heart to tell him now, but from a selfish point of view, I would have preferred less money and more time with him.
