Just got mine in navy and loving it so far… question for those of you who own one... how long did it take you to break in the jacket?  It's a bit stiff for me out of the box but I'm assuming it'll loosen up over time.

I've used mine for a solid week, and the sleeves have started to soften up a bit  😉

            Good to hear, thanks!

Figured I'd do a quick fit check if you guys would tell me what you think…  I got a size L and I measure about 42" around my chest.  L seemed to line up best according to the measurements.

Just wearing a t-shirt (that's a little bit long on me) in this pic and probably don't have much room for anything much thicker than that in this jacket... Overall I think the fit is good but it's a little bit constricting when i try to move my arms around, which is why I'm hoping the fabric will loosen up a little bit and get softer over time.  I Feel like if I sized up to an XL in this it'd just be too big overall... (for reference, most of my other IH shirts are XL)

An xl probably would've suited you better in the chest imo, especially if you typically wear xl IH shirts. But, the sleeves might've been too long on you

@tangfj I initially tried a large on my first order but ended up exchanging it for an XL.  I'm normally an XL in shirts as well.  My XL is still a bit restrictive when I'm extending my arms straight up but it works for me.  I'm able to wear a T or thermal underneath it but doubt I could fit a UHF or hoodie but again, it works for me as I didnt buy it intending to use as a layering piece.

I think the sleeves on an XL might be too long for you as well.  Jacket looks sharp AF though.  I went with the beige but your pics make me want a navy as well.

Right… sleeves on XL might be too long but I could always get the sleeves altered...  I suspect that might be what I need to do as well... the L is just a bit too constricting to be comfortable.  I don't really intend this to be a layering piece either... will most likely just wear with a t-shirt or thermal underneath at most.

I have a long history of trying to get size L IH jackets to fit me and they just don’t. I think you’ll be happier with an XL and sleeves be damned.

Thanks guys!  I think you're all right… XL probably a bit better fit for me... only 1 XL looks to be remaining in Navy... sent e-mail to the staff already but in case anyone on staff sees this, please hold the Navy XL for me!

I would just buy it if I were you and send the Large back.

Just got the XL… I think it fits much better!

Pic 1 zipped up with the sleeves folded up once...

Pic 2 open with the sleeves unfolded (very long!)

Let me know what you guys think but it feels better to me already!

Also, would somebody be so kind as to educate me as to what measurements are making the L feel tight on me when I lift my arms up?  I'm thinking it's a combination of P2P and Shoulders but for future reference for me it'd be great to know!  That or some general advice like always allow for 1-2" more than your body measurements for jackets/etc…

Measures below from the kind IH staff!

                              L -
                              Sh: 19.5
                              L: 26.3
                              P2P: 22.7
                              W: 22.5
                              Op: 22.4
                              Sl: 25.6

                              XL -
                              Sh: 20.0
                              L: 27.2
                              P2P: 23.7
                              W: 23.2
                              Op: 23.0
                              Sl: 26.2

                              Thanks!

@tangfj that looks great!  Perfect fit for that jacket with the XL IMO.

Regarding the tightness while lifting the arms I think it's a combination of the chest measurements and the lining.  Also, I've notice the sleeve width feels a bit narrow around the biceps and elbow when bending the arms.  Again, nothing that stops me from buying/wearing it but those are just my thoughts.

Yes. Much better. Even though the sleeves are long in pic two it still beats the L fit. I wouldn’t let it bother you. Flipping cuffs works great too. Pleased for you.

Thanks guys!  Really loving this jacket… definitely the most heavy duty and best constructed "lightweight" jacket I've ever owned.

Liked the jacket so much that I bought another one in the khaki color off another member!  Question about this jacket about cleaning… can i throw this in the washing machine and hang dry or would you guys think that it should be dry cleaned?

You can machine wash it carefully, rather than dry clean. Don't tumble dry!
