I️ feel like the whole point of Red Sonja is she’s a sexualized badass. I️ think the modern version could be perfectly feminist, with slutty costumes and all. After all, being a slut is a choice for which none of us should be shamed.
This. If only we could have had something like that about 20 years ago and have a young Gina Gershon in the title role. No one did shameless, compromise free female sexuality like Gina.

IDK if she can act (probably better than Brigitte Nielson) but they should just get this Claire Anastasia cosplayer to play Red Sonja.
-
Claire Anastasia might look the part but I think if you're tackling the role of Red Sonja you need to be someone with name recognition. Gina Carano has the looks, the physique and the fighting skills.

Finally watched Split lastnite and thought it was decent. More importantly, I liked that it was a tie in to Unbreakable which is my favorite M. Night Shyamalan film.

I watched this documentary last night and I thought it was fascinating. Definitely worth 44 minutes of your time if you have the urge to expand your mind.

Took my daughters to see Coco over the weekend. Fantastic film. The animation, story, and the depiction of the Mexican culture and the Day of the Dead festival were all done amazingly. FWIW it's also a bit sad so keep that in mind if anyone is considering taking their kids. There were definitely some waterworks going on in the theater.
Hands down the best animated film I've seen in years.

Finished season 1 of Stranger Things and I really enjoyed it. I think I dug it because it reminded me of Stephen King's The Mist, especially Frank Darabont's film adaptation. There were parallels such as the military installation, the opening of a portal/tear in space, and the monster that dwelled in the Upside Down. I know Stranger Things draws from tons of other 80's source material but this was the most notable for me, and maybe Stand By Me.

War for the Planet of the Apes: 9/10
Awesome film and just gut wrenching. Loved the story and considering most of it was cgi it was rendered very well.

I really enjoyed it; definitely surpassed my expectations.

Just finished watching dark - really enjoyed it. Part of the appeal was the scenery and ambience. On a sidenote a former student of my wife plays a leading role.

I just saw the new Star Wars. It was Amazing! The visual effects were so good. 10/10

I must be one of the few people on this planet that isn't totally geeked out by Star Wars. I mean, I've watched Force Awakens and Rogue One and I liked them but I waited months til they came out on dvd because I have zero interest in standing in line fighting those crowds.

Said it before- none of the post-1984 movies matter to me. I'm sure I'll see it eventually, but I'm way more interested in the upcoming Black Panther.

Kinda feel the same way. But I really liked Episode 3, except the 'your name is Luke and Leia' tacked on part. And I really enjoyed this new one too. It was really funny at parts and there were several interesting plot twists I didn't expect.

I saw The Last Jedi today. I quite enjoyed it (and had a free ticket to the IMAX), but the new films feel a bit like a facsimile of the original Star Wars trilogy.
I'd argue that Bladerunner 2049 does a better job of refreshing a franchise, and Logan does the burnt out hero better.
The new Black Panther trailer played before it, and I agree with @Chris that it looks fun.
