Hehe… @Graeme  I think we can all agree that the vasectomy was necessary for obvious reasons, and possibly came a little late in the day.

An adoption of a «don’t ask, don’t tell» policy, combined with an admission that she can no longer keep track of my clothing means there is peace round the hearthfire when it comes to purchases.

Actually, my girlfriend is learning of my expensive tastes. I was eyeing up an Andersen S3 cabinet, and the price caused her to repeatedly tell me, "You're not getting that!"

I suspect that it's going to become a regular conversation.

A friend of mine's house burnt down, killing her cat whilst at it

Last time someone at my work commented on my clothing they said “why do you dress so strangely”? I looked him up and down (in his socks and sandals, $30 “jeans” and poly mix sweater) and said “you’ve been dressing that way in the fifteen years we’ve worked together, and I’ve never been rude enough to ask you that question”.
